Job Title: Team Leader - Planning

Job Level: M3

Purpose of Job:

To work as a key member of the production team in Gateshead to enable them to manage the current workload efficiently, providing effective schedules that utilise resources to provide maximum capacity and future growth.

Impact:

To support the production teams in enabling them to ensure that our Gateshead and Peterborough production operations are highly effective and delivering to the required standard for accessible materials, to time, cost and quality for internal and external customers.

Line management responsibility, 2 production planners based in Gateshead and1 production planner in Peterborough

Financial Responsibility:

n/a.

Decision Making Responsibility:

To make considered decisions that support the production teams delivery capability in Gateshead, with accountability for future planning for all product output.

Main Accountabilities:

1.  Work with key business owners to identify and plan all work to be produced in Gateshead and Peterborough, ensuring that all SLA’s are met and reviewed with customers on a regular basis

2.  Implementation and delivery of the planning processes for all workstreams into the existing NAV solution

3.  Work with the management team in Gateshead to maximise the effectiveness of the production environment and delivery processes

4.  Identify opportunities to streamline efficiencies in materials, machinery and processes in order to deliver time/cost savings and improve output.

5.  Work with the planners and production teams to ensure that the production schedules are reviewed constantly throughout the working day to ensure that SLA’s are met and the teams are being utilised to maximum capacity

6.  Work with the continuous improvement team to review process and practice to ensure most efficient delivery techniques across all customer contracts.

7.  Work with the maintenance engineer and production managers to ensure all safety regulations are met, that all machinery is maintained and serviced to comply with the required safety standards.

8. Ensure compliance with internal and external policies, procedures and legislation including health and safety, personnel, finance, administration, and regulatory frameworks.

9. Other duties as commensurate with the post.

Person Specification

1.  Specialist Knowledge, Skills and Experience

1.1 Proven experience of working in a project team that has successfully implemented the NAV planning and scheduling solution within a production environment

1.2 Significant experience of leading multi- sited planning teams’, a minimum of two years is desirable

1.3 Ability to lead a team that strives to provide customers with their deliveries to time, quality and cost

1.4 Significant proven experience of managing production schedules within NAV, a minimum of two years is desirable

1.5  Qualified to a minimum of IoSCM Level 5 - Manufacturing Production and Operations Management

2. People management skills/ team working skills

2.1 Able to lead a small team of people based on multiple sites ensuring that they work together with the same goals and delivery targets

2.2  Able to work effectively with people across the organisation

2.3  Able to work well with peers and managers, influencing and challenging the decision making process and direction for change

3.  Planning and Organisational skills
