Article I- Name, Purpose, and Non-Discrimination Policy of the Organization
Section I- Name:
Podcast Club
Section II- Purpose:
Podcast Club wishes to turn its members into well-spoken and self-starting content producers. Content produced by members for the club will be hosted and featured on an Ohio State podcast network website, though which we can pool our promotional resources. Students who are interested in podcasting but have no experience will be introduced to the basics with the intention of having them produce a show independently. Members will be given total freedom regarding the subject of their podcast and will be encouraged to produce both audio and video pieces for their shows. Collaboration between members will be highly encouraged.
Section III- Non-Discrimination Policy:
Podcast Club and its members shall not discriminate against any individuals for reasons of age, color, disability, gender identity or expression, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or veteran’s status.
Article II- Membership: Qualifications and Categories of Membership
Section I-Regular Membership: All students at OSU are able to become members at no charge.
Section II-Associate Membership: Non-students are eligible to become associate members. Associate members do not have voting privileges, but should be welcomed at meetings and club functions. This status is intended for those who are involved in shows on the network but are not Ohio State students.
Article III- Organizational Leadership: Titles, terms of office, type of selection, and duties of leaders
President: The president should preside over meetings, and any other official functions of the club. They have oversight over the podcast network and act as its executive producer for content, ensuring that shows are up to the standards of the network as defined. They also have the final say over potential business decisions concerning the network. They should have production skills and optimally produce or participate in a show on the network. They should be passionate about podcasts and what makes the medium unique.
Vice President: The vice president will preside over meetings and other official functions in lieu of the president when they are not available. They may be involved in managing the network or be more focused on club functions. They also can perform liaison work with presidential oversight. Production skills are not required, but they optimally should participate in a show on the network.
Secretary: The secretary manages club and podcast network email accounts, as well as the club mailing list. They keep meeting minutes. They keep the roster and record attendance at regular meetings. They may be called upon to reserve rooms for meetings and events.
Treasurer: The treasurer manages club finances and tracks spending, including the finances of the podcast network.
Webmaster: The webmaster manages the podcast network’s web presence day-to day. They may be responsible for keeping RSS feeds up to date and customizing website code.
Promoter: The promoter manages any and all manner of club and network promotion. They should have a willingness to put themselves out there to promote the club.
All officers will be voted for during the end of Spring semester. The terms of each position will be for one academic year. All general members are eligible for offices but are encouraged to follow the guidelines as defined.
Article IV- Executive Committee: Size and Composition of Committee
The executive committee is made up of all those in extant leadership positions.
Article V- Standing Committees: Names, Purposes, and Composition
There will be no standing committees.
Article VI – Method of Selecting and/or Removing Officers and Members.
Officers will be elected by voting membership described above. Potential candidates must declare their candidacy at least one week in advance of elections by submitting a personal statement to the current President. There are no prerequisites to candidacy other than that the candidate must be an Ohio State student and have attended the requisite number of meetings to be considered a general member. Officers are expected to uphold the highest standards of integrity and excellence. Officers that break moral and ethical codes of the Ohio State University or of the State of Ohio are subject to immediate dismissal provided a 3/4ths vote of elected officers. Leadership that does not attend a majority of meetings during the quarter can also be dismissed with a 3/4ths vote of elected leadership. The current President is responsible for setting up the time and location for voting. Should the President be the official in question, the duty shall fall upon the Vice-President, and so on to the treasurer and the secretary. The official in question will be given a chance to provide a statement followed by discussion led by the official responsible for setting up the meeting, followed by a vote.
In addition to officers, members are also expected to uphold a certain code of conduct and represent the organization appropriately. Members that break moral or ethical codes of the Ohio State University or do not represent the organization appropriately as determined by a majority vote of the executive team will be dismissed. Officers/members cannot be removed due to criteria stated in the Non-Discrimination policy (Article 1, Section 3).
Article VII- Adviser(s) or Advisory Board: Qualification Criteria
The Faculty Advisor shall be a full-time staff/faculty member who aligns with the purposes of the organization (Article 1, Section 2). Beginning Spring semester 2013, the advisor will be Doug Dangler (E-Learning Manager, College of Arts and Sciences Technology Services)
Article VIII- Meetings of the Organization: Required Meetings and Their Frequency
General meetings will be held every other week. In the event of cancellation, a notice will be sent to all members at least 24 hours before the meeting would have begun.
Article IX- Method of Amending Constitution: Proposals, Notice, and Voting Requirements
Amendments to the Constitution must be in writing and presented to the entire group in advance of thirty days before a required general meeting. A ¾ vote is required to amend the constitution. Votes can be done electronically as long as they are submitted by the time of regular voting.
Article X- Method of Dissolution of Organization
All assets shall be returned to the original source or donated to a worthy cause. The group will be dissolved when there are no members or leadership willing to pursue the objectives of this group.
By-Laws
Article I- Parliamentary Authority
Meetings will be conducted by the president or in their absence another executive member.
Article II- Membership
In order to become a member, one must be present for at least 5 meetings in a semester. There will be no club dues.
Article III- Standing Committees
When instituted, these committees will be charged with the completion of a certain task given by the general membership in accord with group officers, and will report directly to the president or vice-president or an appointed leader.
Article VII- Adviser(s) or Advisory Board Responsibilities
Adviser responsibility will be determined by the executive officers along with the faculty adviser based upon organization need and activities.
Article VIII- Meeting Requirements
At least one executive officer must be present to hold a meeting. Votes and decisions will be made based on present majority, but must be sent out to all group members 24 hours before the meeting. A meeting agenda will be prepared before meetings by an executive member. All members should be notified of general meetings at least 24 hours before the meeting begins.
Article IX- Method of Amending By-Laws
Amendments to the By-Laws must be in writing and presented to the entire group in advance of seven days before a required general meeting. A 2/3 vote is required to amend the by-laws. Votes can be done electronically as long as they are submitted by the time of regular voting.
