POSITION: Digital Communications Specialist

  • This is a full-time position.
  • Employment is with Chattahoochee Technical College and not with an individual campus. All employees are subject to work relocation based on college needs.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Digital Communications Specialist supports, implements and enhances internal and external communications initiatives to improve how the college connects with employees, students/parents, prospective students/parents and community members utilizing digital and social media communication strategies. The purpose of this position is to provide college-wide specialized support for the college’s social media and marketing plan.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in Communications, Multimedia Design, Film or in a field of study closely related is required, OR an Associate’s degree in a closely related field of study with two years of related paid work experience, OR A High School diploma plus four years of related paid work experience.
  • Possess a working knowledge of digital and social media, including sufficient experience planning and executing digital and social media initiatives.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated some proven ability and/or records of success utilizing various digital options, including: shooting video using DSLRs, GoPros, Smartphones; and, creating editorial work in Adobe Premier, Final Cut, and/or Avid and basic graphics with Adobe After Effects.
  • Demonstrated successful online presence across a variety of social media platforms.
  • Demonstrated participation in all aspects of contemporary media production from preproduction through distribution of the final product on varied platforms.
  • Demonstrated project planning, equipment utilization, cataloging/archiving, lighting techniques, casting of talent, script writing, directing, location scouting, post production editing, export and compression techniques, and final broadcast to TV, web, and social media outlets.
  • Knowledge and use of video and still cameras and media editing software.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Digital Communications Specialist supports, implements and enhances internal and external communications initiatives to improve how the college connects with employees, students/parents, prospective students/parents and community members utilizing digital and social media communication strategies.The purpose of this position is to provide college-wide specialized support for the college’s social media and marketing plan.

MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Collaborates with the Digital and Marketing team to develop and implement social media and digital marketing strategies creating digital content (including, but not limited to, blog posts, tweets, status updates, pins, photos and videos) for various promotional and marketing campaigns.
  • Monitors and works with faculty and staff to manage the college’s reputation and brand online while creating and maintaining open lines of communication with digital community members.
  • Creates and publishes embeddable web videos for social media platforms.
  • Assists with implementation of geo-fencing ads and related marketing needs.
  • Creates and publishes informational and promotional postings for all social media platforms.
  • Cultivates and maintains professional relationships with clients or customers by listening, identifying needs, and responding accordingly.
  • Works with faculty, staff and students in the areas of news gathering for social media postings and responses.
  • Assists in equipment organizing and maintenance, as well as digitizing footage and maintaining video logs and media storage.
  • Works with the Marketing Team to develop creative works for commercials, college event highlights, recruitment, community communication, and other marketing efforts.
  • Researches new technologies and platforms and makes recommendations for potential future use from these areas.
  • Assists with community related events.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with social media platforms including (but not limited to) Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, foursquare, Pinterest, Instagram and Tumblr.
  • Experience with utilizing and leveraging social media management and analytic tools including, but not limited to,Hootsuite.
  • Experience creating embeddable web videos.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge and use of video, cameras, and media editing software.
  • Knowledge and use of various file formats, compression systems and production platforms.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Attention to details.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS:

The Director of Digital Media assigns work in terms of general instructions. The Supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

GUIDELINES:

Guidelines include Chattahoochee Technical College operational policies and procedures, the college strategic plan, advancement and marketing plan, the CTC Graphic Style & Standards Guide and EEOC requirements. In addition, familiarity with accreditation policies and principles is needed. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application.
