University Endowed Professorships and Chairs
Appointment Process
Nomination packets for any endowed professorship or chair position are submitted to the appropriate campus Vice President. For the Monroe Park Campus, please submit your packets to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, c/o Vice Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs. For the MCV Campus, please submit packets to the Associate Vice President for Health Sciences (VPHS).
The nomination packet must include:
- Cover/Signature form
- Documentation:
§ Donor Intention Documentation _____
§ Provost/Vice Presidents recommendation letter (only for appointing deans) _____
§ Dean’s Recommendation Letter _____
§ Department Chair/Center/Institute Director recommendation letter _____
§ School Endowed Review Committee _____
§ Letters of recommendations- limit of 5 (i.e., record of achievement from
University Faculty and other colleagues both within and outside VCU) _____
§ Nominee’s current curriculum vitae _____
Steps in the review Appointment Process:
§ School/Center committee make recommendations to Dean’s offices
§ Dean’s office forwards recommendations to Provost or VPHS offices
§ **VPHS Office submits recommendations to the Provost’s office
§ Provost’s office submits recommendations (both campuses) to the University Endowed Professorships and Chairs committee
§ University Endowed Professorships and Chairs committee forwards recommendations to the Provost’s and VPHS offices
§ Provost’s office submits recommendations to President’s office
§ President’s Office notifies candidate of approval of the appointment by letter
§ For appointments from the Monroe Park Campus, a copy of the Nomination Package must be sent to the Associate Vice President for Health Sciences who maintains the University database on endowed appointments
