Objective of the workshop

The ability of Moroccan engineer students to manage their research projects is critical to their success. It is equally important for these future project managers to have all the tools in hand to make the best projects and spend as prototype or product resulting from the project to the market.

The objective of this workshop is training and building capacity of young students to innovation in the field of renewable energies and more specifically of electric mobility. By motivating students in science, engineering, and alternative energy to learn how to design, engineer, build, and race roadworthy solar cars.

Target

This Training focuses on " Solar powered vehicles engineering" and will be dedicated to students and professors involved in engineering school and solar car team.s

The Trainer: Nuon Solar Team

The Nuon Solar Team is a team of students from the Delft University of Technology. The team has seven solar cars designed and built for the World Solar Challenge.

Students involved in this huge project give more than a year of their studies in order to participate in the race. Former astronaut WubboOckels was until his death in April 2014 coach of the team.

Various companies support the team through sponsoring. The team is named after the main sponsor Nuon.

The Nuon Solar Team has eight cars participated in various World Solar Challenges with different designs and are always implementing new innovations.

Event supported by GIZ

GIZ has been working in Morocco on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) since 1975. It opened its office in Rabat in 1999. GIZ has 130 staff in Morocco, including around 100 national and 30 seconded personnel and three CIM experts.

Morocco currently relies on fossil energy imports for 95 per cent of its fuel supply, and yet it has outstanding potential for renewable energy use. In order to harness this potential to a greater extent, GIZ has been commissioned by the German Government to help Morocco introduce a model for developing a sustainable energy production system and supply.
