Transfer Policy Guidelines

Transfer students seeking enrollment in Italy ISD must meet the following guidelines:

  1. The transferring student must have work habits that do not prevent him/her from academic progress on classroom assignments and state examinations.
  2. The transferring student must have an attendance rate of 90% or higher during the previous school year. The current school year’s attendance recordmay also be considered for students seeking transfer after a school year has begun.
  3. The transferring student must have met state requirements for appropriate grade level credit or promotion for the current year.
  4. The transferring student shall have no more than three discipline referrals that resulted in Saturday School, ISS or OSS during the previous school year. The current school year’s discipline record may also be considered for students seeking transfer after a school year has begun.
  5. The transferring student shall have no DAEP placements during the previous school. The current school year’s placements may also be considered for students seeking transfer after a school year has begun.

Italy ISD transfer students shall forfeit their transfer when:

  1. The transfer student’s work habits decline and the student shows a lack of progress on classroom assignments and state examinations.
  2. The transfer student earns three discipline referrals that result in Saturday School, ISS or OSS.
  3. The transfer student’s attendance falls below 90% for any class period during a semester.
  4. The transfer student fails two or more core courses in one six week grading period.
  5. The transfer student fails one core course in two consecutive six week grading periods.
  6. The transfer student fails to earn grade level credit or be promoted to the next grade.
  7. The transfer student is placed in DAEP.
  8. A transfer for a student may be revoked for violating the Student Code of Conduct.

Transfers will be denied/revoked on a last come first denied basis when or if the number of transfer students in a particular grade or class would cause the district to require additional staffing or facilities.

Proof of Residency is required.

These guidelines were developed in accordance with Italy ISD Board Policy FDA (Local).

The final decision is at the discretion of the superintendent.
