Dear Parents,
Year 4 Visit to France, 27 – 31stMarch 2017
We are all looking forward to our visit to France on Monday 27th of March. Everything is booked and the programme has been worked out. Attached to this letter is a medical and dietary form for you to complete.
I hope the information detailed in this letter will answer any questions you have about the visit.
Contact
We ask that children do not bring mobile phones or devices that will enable them to contact family members of friends. We will send a text to advise once we are at the chateau and then update the school blog regularly. We will have your parent contact details with us and will contact you should we so need to. Both Mrs Forrest and Mrs El-Hashahar are First Aid trained.
Food
On the day of travel, parents will need to send their child with both breakfast and lunch.
During our stay, thefood will be of a very high standard. We hope all children will try the food and enjoy it. If you child has any dietary requests please make sure you add them to the section on the medical form.
Dormitories
Children sleep in separate boys and girls dormitories of varying sizes. We will be asking the children about who they would like to share with and will accommodate this where possible and we will be using our knowledge of the children to work out who is in each dormitory. Staff rooms are next to the dormitories.
Staff
The following staff members will be going on the visit.
Mrs Gleave
Miss Carter
Mrs Forrest
Mrs El-Hashahar
Activities
All centre staff are fully training in the activities they are leading. All visits have been risk assessed.
Medical Information
Please make sure you fill in all parts of the medical form. If your child needs daily medication please make sure you give it to Mrs El-Hashahar on the morning we leave. Please make sure it is labelled with the dosage needed.
Kit List
A kit list has been given to your child. Please use it as a guide to help you pack everything your child needs whilst away from home. If this is packed in their case, they can use it when packing to come home to make sure that they have everything they came with.
French Themed Night
On the last night we have a French themed night. The children will be able to try snails and frogs legs. On the night we also dress up as a typical French person. This normally involves children dressing up in striped T –shirts , moustache, beret , onions etc. We will leave it to you as to what your child wears. It is a great night and everyone takes part.
Cameras and electronic games
Due to the length of the coach journey we do allow children to take electronic games with them on the journey as long as they do not have wi-fi connectivity or 3 or 4G functionality. They will be able to use these at certain times when we are travelling. Often children bring cards and other games to play on the journey. Children may also bring cameras if they want to. I must stress that children will have to be responsible for their own belonging as we cannot take responsibility for any damage or loss. No mobile phones please.
Spending Money
Children may bring with them some English money to spend at the motorways services and at our tuck shop while at the centre and euros to spend in France. We would advise that children bring no more than £5 in £1 coins and 40 euros. All money needs to be in a named purse or wallet. Euros are to be handed to Mrs Forrest before boarding the coach to keep it safe.
Returning home
If we get caught in traffic on the journey home and we do not feel we will make it back to school for 6.30pm, we will send a text to parents to let them know. I
Hoodies
We would like all children to travel in their Hoodie on the Monday morning.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Gleave
