LondonColneyPrimary School

We delivered workshops to the Year 5 & 6 pupils in LondonColneyPrimary school on the 16th May. Shortly after the sessions we received letters from all of the young people about the impact of the workshops and thanking us for visiting the school. One of the letters was so impressed that it is now on our website: We invited the school to come and deliver a presentation at our research launch and speak about the change that the workshops had made in their school. Head teacher Lisa Valla and 4 Year 6 students delivered an amazing presentation which can be viewed on our YouTube channel:

HighwoodPrimary School

We returned to HighwoodPrimary school to deliver an extension workshop on Islamophobia to the Year 6 pupils who had received an initial workshop last year. This work was very well received and the school gave permission for the Islam Channel to come and film the workshop for a forthcoming film on Educating against Islamophobia.

Teachers Feedback

We have received 118 completed forms from schools across the South East. Some of the results are depicted in the graph below:

Sample Comments:

This one day workshop had a big impact on the children. It raised an issue that is very important and very real to them. It was delivered in a thoughtful, inspirational and fun way. The whole day provided an excellent opportunity for the children to discuss racism and the impact it has on others. It also provided a super base on which to build other lessons. London Colney Primary School, 16/05/11

It was an excellent day, thank you so much! Some interesting misconceptions were squashed. Kingsway Junior 24/05/11

The children were made to feel very comfortable with discussing the concept and were encouraged to ask questions. The DVD was an effective way to engage children beforehand. Longlands Primary 06/06/11

Excellent, informative event - good preparation for secondary school/wider community. KingswayJuniorSchool. 23/05/11

Open discussion, comfortable and safe environment created for children to contribute thoughts and opinions. Thank you, a very worthwhile day. Highwood Primary 01/07/11

Summary

We have now met our target for delivery in Hertfordshire for 2011/2012, though we are still in discussions with Watford, Barnet and Stevenage FC about holding events with them. We are still receiving requests from schools for visits and are keen to keep up our high profile in Hertfordshire by continuing this work and developing opportunities to work with teachers and parents in the county.
