Position / Counsellor – Family Support Services

Hours: / 22.5 hours per week three days per week (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday)
Salary: / £21,873 to £28,348 per annum pro rata

The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice provides specialist palliative care for people with a progressive, life threatening illness and support for their families and carers. Patients and families are at the heart of all that we do and as a member of our family support team you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the provision of accessible and high quality support to all our clinical services. The hospice is currently in the final stages of a major capital appeal and will be moving to a new purpose-built home in Bellahouston Park, Glasgow, in spring 2018.

As part of our dynamicmulti-disciplinary team the post holder will provide acounselling and support service to patients (including young adults) and their families and friends of Hospice patients and to children/young people referred to our child bereavement service, the Butterfly Service.

You will carry a caseload of supporting adults and young people and support the development and co-ordination of various peer support models. You will contribute to the development of these services, sharing your ideas and previous experience.

You will influence the psychological and emotional care of children, young people and families through providing and contributing to educational programmes across professional disciplines and by contributing to the operational development needs of the service.

You will have a degree/diploma in counselling / related discipline. You will be able to demonstrate your experience of working with adults and young people facing or experiencing loss along with an in depth knowledge of at least one counsellingapproach.

You will have a commitment to quality, a track record of putting patients and families at the heart of all you do and be able to demonstrate advanced communication skills.
