School-Parent Compact
LaSalle Elementary Schools #122 and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I agree that this compact outlines how they will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the district and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards. This school-parent compact is in effect during the 2016-2017 school year.
School Responsibilities
All schools in the LaSalle Elementary School District will:
●Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic learning standards.
○All teachers have met the highly-qualified requirements to provide quality education to participating students. Academic instruction is aligned with Illinois State Learning Standards.
●Hold parent-teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement.
○Parent-teacher conferences will be held twice annually (end of the 1st and 2nd trimester). Specific dates and times can be found on the district’s calendar.
●Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress.
○Parents/Guardians can monitor their student’s academic progress via the internet at Progress Reports and 3rd trimester report cards will be sent home. 1st and 2nd trimester report cards are given to parents during the parent-teacher conference.
●Provide parents reasonable access to staff.
○Parents have the opportunity to consult with staff involved with their child during parent-teacher conferences and are also encouraged to schedule appointments with staff as needed.
●Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class and to observe classroom activities.
○Parents are encouraged to serve as volunteers in the school. Refer to the volunteer program.
Parent Responsibilities
We, as parents, will support our children’s learning in the following ways:
●Monitoring my child’s attendance.
●Making sure that homework is completed and assignment notebooks are signed daily.
●Volunteering in child’s classroom (read aloud, parties, help with daily activities)
●Participating, as appropriate, in decisions relating to my child’s education.
●Promoting positive use of my child’s extracurricular time.(attending after school functions)
●Staying informed about my child’s education and communicating with the school by promptly reading all notices, emails, and assignment notebooks from the school.
●Attending parent-teacher conferences.
Student Responsibilities
We, as students, will share the responsibility to improve our academic achievement and achieve the state’s high standards. Specifically, we will:
Describe the ways in which students will support their academic achievement, such as:
●Do my homework every day and ask for help when I need it.
●Use the assignment notebook or electronic application daily.
●Follow the school and classroom rules according to PBIS expectations.
●Give my parents/guardians all notices and information received by me from my school every day.
