FURMAN SCHOLARS PROGRAM
Amount:Furman Scholars will receive a scholarship of at least $4,000, renewable yearly upon
maintaining a 3.0GPA. Furman scholars that apply for admission can compete other scholarships offered at Furman.
Eligibility:Submit Furman application, must have a unweighted 3.75GPA or higher or a weighted 4.0GPA. Rank in the top 5% of class. Must have a 130 or higher SAT or ACT composite score of 29 or higher. Must also have an interest in a education in the liberal arts and sciences. Information is available in the Guidance Dept.

NURSING PROGRAM – Free Tuition
If you are between the ages of 18-28 years old, interested in the Nursing field,
University of the District of Columbia (UDC) is offering free tuition, free books, a $250 monthly stipend, and guaranteed job placement as a nurse at Providence Hospital upon graduation (it’s a 3 year program) with a

Amount: Several $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors.
Eligibility:Applicant must include recent documents demonstrating financial need, possess a 3.0 GPA, and will enroll in a US college full-time for the 2006-07 academic year. Two letters of recommendations and a two-page essay stating why you should be awarded a scholarship is required.

SALLIE MAE FUND
Sallie Mae Fund offer scholarship programs, and several new scholarship resources. One program
includes scholarships including:
“First in my Family” Scholarship – This is for Hispanic-American students who were first in their family to
attend college. The amount ranges from $500 to $5,000.
“Unmet Need” Scholarship – Awarded to help 355 students bridge the financial need gap.
“American Dream” Scholarship – Awarded to 179 African-American Students.
“The Sallie mae 911 Education Fund” – The fund will provide $2,500 scholarships to more thn 20 students
who lost immediate family in the 911 attachs.
:Writers of Passage” Scholarship – Four winners received $5,000 scholarships and their schools
receive a $20,000 grant.

LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS
KIWANIS CLUB OF LAKEWOOD
COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
Amount:Up to five (5) college scholarship awards of $2,500 per year for a maximum of $10,000 will be granted to 2007 high school graduates who reside permanently in the city of Lakewood, Ohio. Awards are renewable annually for each of four years of undergraduate study provided the students maintain a satisfactory level of academic achievement and conduct.
Eligibility:Permanent resident of Lakewood with evidence of financial need; U. S. citizen; member of the 2007 graduating class; rank in top third of class; must have applied to a college or university and possess the credits required for admission. Based on evidence of leadership and service to the community. Applicant must fellowship, honesty and loyalty, must have attained scholastic achievement and possess qualities indicative of good citizenship, sound moral character, diligence, demonstrate general aptitude on ACT/SAT scores. Applicant cannot be related to a Regular or Honorary member of the Kiwanis Club of Lakewood.
How to apply:Submit official transcripts, ACT/SAT and other appropriate test scores. Finalists must participate in a scholarship interview.

LAKEWOOD COUNCIL OF PTA
ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
Amount:Two $1,000 academic scholarships and one $1,000 career technical scholarship.
Eligibility:U. S. citizen; Lakewood resident and graduating LHS senior with 3.0 GPA who intends to enter a 4-year college or university full time to obtain a Bachelor's Degree. Parent or guardian must be a member of a Lakewood PTA unit. Based on neatness of application, essay, GPA, involvement in school and community activities or work experience, financial need, interview with Scholarship Committee and two recommendations.

are to obtain form from their instructor.

LEBANESE-SYRIAN JUNIOR WOMEN'S LEAGUE

Amount:Two $1,000.00 college scholarships to an academically outstanding young man and young woman of Lebanese or Syrian descent.
Eligibility:Senior in greater Clevelandhigh school of Lebanese or Syrian descent with 3.0 GPA or better, graduating in January or June of the current school year. Transcripts, ACT/SAT scores, 200-word autobiography, and two letters of recommendation are required.

OHIO PTA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Columbus, Ohio
Amount:Academic Bachelors Degree - $500.00, Technical (2 or 3 year) or Associate
Degree- $500.00, and Special Education Student - $500.00.
Eligibility:Based on student's scholastic achievement, school involvement, leadership qualification, and special family circumstances. Applicants must be seniors attending an Ohio public high school in school districts having one or more PTA with membership in the Ohio and National PTA.

MISCELLANEOUS SCHOLARSHIPS
OHIO NEWSPAPERS FOUNDATION,
MINORITY JOURNALISM SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Amount:A $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to a minority high school senior who plan to pursue a major in print journalism at an Ohio college or University.
EligibilityCollege-bound high school seniors who are African American, Hispanic, Asian American or American Indian may apply. Must be enrolled as college freshman at an OhioCollege or University for the 2007-08 school year, minimum GPA of 2.5 is required.
How to apply:Application form must be typed or printed legibly by the applicant. Students must demonstrate the ability to write clearly in an autobiography of 750 to 1,000 words describing academic and career interests, awards, extracurricular and any journalism related activities. Two letters of recommendation from teachers are required. Student may provide additional information such as samples or articles that have been published (limit to two, please). Transcripts are required.

THE OHIO SOCIETY OF CPA’s
CLEVELAND AREA HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS
Amount:Several $1,000 scholarship to students who plan to attend a four-year college or university.
Eligibility:Scholarship is open to juniors or seniors who submit the area’s outstanding essay. The essay must be between 800 to 1,200 words, must be typed. The essay question is:

YOUTH SURVIVOR COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP
American Cancer Society’s Youth Survivor College Scholarship is a opportunity for students with a history of cancer. This scholarship is designed to provide young cancer patients and survivors assistance in pursuing higher education from an accredited school.
The American Cancer Society Youth Survivor College Scholarship provides $1,000 to recipients for this school year. Must submit a quarter/semester transcript.
