Used nationally representative data to examine the relationship between abortion during adolescence and depression. Specifically, lagged logistic regression used to examine the separate and combined contributions of individual and family level factors, including abortion, to depressed mood.

Research coordinator for a NICHD-funded five-year project (1RO1 HD47151-01A, Marie Harvey, P.I.) exploring the role of relationship dynamics in sexual risk behavior. Contributed to design of data collection instruments and research protocols. Served as research assistant to Marie Harvey on a three-year research project funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) (5R01 HD40137 ) exploring the acceptability of the vaginal diaphragm for the prevention of HIV/STIs. Contributed to design and administration of a survey of contraceptive practices, beliefs and intentions among college students. Conducted literature reviews and statistical analyses of data from college student study and another study of factors influencing satisfaction with abortion methods. Presented findings from analyses to student groups and at professional conferences. Co-authored article on qualitative study of women’s perceptions of the diaphragm.
