1. General Information

Welcome to Portsmouth and the National Association of Boys & Girls Clubs Boxing Championship Final (NABGC).

The event is being staged by Heart of Portsmouth Boxing Academy (H.O.P) on behalf of NABGC and England Boxing.

At the heart of the city is Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. Here you can explore Lord Nelson’s flagship, HMS Victory and tour Queen Victoria’s battleship, HMS Warrior 1860.You can see Henry Vlll’s Mary Rose and trace the history of the Royal Navy at the Royal Naval Museum.Then come right up to date with “Action Stations” an interactive attraction on today’s navy.

You can also take a harbour tour to see the naval ships, and harbour fortifications from the water.

Other attractions include Charles Dickens’ birthplace, the D-day Museum featuring the Overlord Embroidery, Southsea Castle, the Royal Marines Museum, and Portsmouth Cathedral.

Portsmouth has its own resort area,Southsea, offering four miles of beach and promenade, including gardens and piers.You can take an undersea safari at the Blue Reef Aquarium or splash around at the Pyramids with their fun pools, flumes and waves.

At the harbour entrance lies Gunwharf Quays,a world-class waterfront shopping and leisure development.Spinnaker Tower is also situated here. This isa striking new attraction soaring 170m into the air and offering spectacular views over the south coast.

If you want to shop then Portsmouth City Centre and Southsea offer an excellent selection of shops from high street names to independent retailers

3. Arrivals by train

Portsmouth and Southsea Train Station, then turn left the train station is 3 mins walk from Heart of Portsmouth Boxing Academy.

Arrival by Road

Clubs arriving by road should head for Heart of Portsmouth Boxing Academy, Charter Community Sports Centre, Greetham Street, Portsmouth, Hants, PO5 4HL.

5. Event

Boxing will commence at 15:00 on Saturday 5th December 2015 all participants for the first bout are to be at the venue by the latest 14:30.

6. Accreditation

Ticket and wrist band, system will be used at the event. Wrist bands must be visible at all times.

7. Entry

Pay on the Door (£5 U16’s - £10 Adults)

8. Duration of Bouts

Class ‘A’ will be boxed over 3 x 2 minute rounds

9. Refreshments

Meals: Boxers and two seconds per club will be issued with a bag meal.

Snacks, tea and coffee will be on sale; however we are in the heart of Portsmouth so therefore all shops are assessable (2 mins walk away).

Please note: Strictly no alcohol in the Boxing Arena.

10. Car Parking

There is a small car park in the front of the Charter Sports Centre and parking on the grass small field is allowed also a pay and display opposite the centre. There is also free parking around the surrounding area.

11. Programme of Events

Saturday 5th December 2015:

Boxers to arrive for registration 12:00 – 12:30

Weigh-in and medical examination: 12:30 – 14:30

Doors open to public 14:30 - 19:00

Officials Brief/Bout Order 14:30 – 15:00

Boxing Commences: 15:00 – 19:00

Note: the above schedule is subject to change according to the number of boxers.

12. Medical Services

Doctor John Grice will be in attendance throughout the tournament. Neurological unit (hospital) is 2 miles away from the event venue. Who have been informed of the date, time and venue of the tournament.

Local police have been informed.

The event will look to conclude by 19:00
