River-Reef 94 replacement cooling fan instructions

Please follow the simple steps to replace your old River-Reef cooling fans with new supplied cooling fans.

The only tools you will need are a small Phillips screw driver and a small pair of pliers.

Step 1

To start, please turn off the aquarium T5 lamps and LED’s, then remove the T5 lamps and unplug your river reef hood from mains electricity. Unscrew the two small screws on the hinges which are located at the back of the aquarium between the hood and the tank.

Then the two small covers will come off the hinges which will allow you to remove the hood from the aquarium.

Place the hood upside down on a flat, clean surface which will prevent the hood from being scratched or damaged.

Please double check your river-reef hood is not plugged into mains electricity at any point of this task.

Step 2

Now you will see that on the inside of hood around the transparent lamp cover 10 small screws, please unscrew these carefully and put in a safe place.

You will now be able remove the transparent lamp cover, please be aware that there is a LED wire connected to this cover which will need to be disconnected from the circuit board. The plug is labeled LED on the circuit board and can be removed easily. Once this is disconnected please put the transparent lamp cover to one side.

Step 3

You will notice 3 cable ties around the main body of wires inside the hood; all 3 of these cable ties will need to be cut and removed. Then you will be able to access the first fan, start with the closest fan to the circuit board. Follow the black and red wire from the fan to the circuit board and unplug it. Then unscrew the four screws around the first fan, this will allow the fan to be taken off and the new fan put in its place.

Please be aware that the new fan being installed must have the sticker on the centre of the fan facing downwards towards the exit holes and the wire exit point being closet to the circuit board to ensure it fits and operates correctly.

The new cooling fan can now be plugged back into the same plug point on the circuit board. You can now screw back in the four screws that attach the fan to the main body of the hood.

Step 4

Now follow the second black and red wire from the second cooling fan to the circuit board and unplug it. Like on the first one remove the 4 screws and replace the old cooling fan with the new one. Ensuring the sticker on the fan is facing downwards and the wire exit is facing towards the circuit board to ensure the cable is long enough and it fits correctly.

Then plug back in the new black and red wire into the same plug socket as the old cooling fan and screw back in the four screws.

Step 5

Now the cooling fans have been replaced you can fit the three supplied cable ties to the slack cabling in the centre of the hood. Space the cable ties out so they hold as much cable together as possible. As seen on the supplied photo.

Now place the transparent lamp cover back onto the hood and plug back in the LED wire into the labeled LED plug socket on the PCB. Then screw back in the 10 small screws around the transparent lamp cover ensuring the black seal surround is positioned correctly between the cover and the main part of the hood.

The hood can now be placed back onto the aquarium and the covers placed back on the hinges for the two small screws to be screwed back in.

Once this has been done the lamps can now be put back in the hood and will be ready to be switched on.

After all of this has been completed the River-Reef hood has now been successfully fitted with new cooling fans.
