Psi Theta
SLU Chapter of the National Communication Association’s Honor Society Lambda Pi Eta
Application Due by Friday, October 9, 2011
What is Psi Theta?
Psi Theta is the Saint Louis University chapter of the National Communication Association’s Honors Society, Lambda Pi Eta. Lambda Pi Eta is an association designed to recognize, foster, and reward outstanding scholastic achievement, to give students an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas about the communication field, and to develop relationships among faculty and students.
Why should you apply?
With monthly meetings, Psi Theta is a great way to interact with Communication students and professors outside of class. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for students and faculty to interact and talk about ideas, share our skills and knowledge with the community, and foster connections among Communication majors. This year, for example, we plan to host a Graduate school information session for Communication students. We also have participated in Make a Difference Day with faculty and graduate students in the department. Another perk to joining the club is that you get a gold cord for graduation!
Who can apply?
In order to be a member of the honor society you must:
-Be a junior or senior -- 60 course hours taken including at least 12 credit hours in communication (If you have not completed the 60 course hours or 12 communication hours but will have done so by the end of the semester, you are able to apply!)
- Have an overall GPA of 3.0 with a 3.25 GPA in communication classes (if you are not sure what your Communication GPA is, Dr. Trees can calculate it for you.)
How much will it cost?
If you qualify to join the society, you will have membership dues of $45.00, which represents a one-time $30 membership fee for NCA, $9.00 for your gold cord, pin, and certificate, and $6.00 for the local chapter.
