City of (your City) partners with the Kentucky League of Cities, GLI and KCCe to bring prescription drug savings to Citizens
(Your city name), KY – The city of (Your City) has joined with the Kentucky League of Cities (KLC), GLI and the KCCE in the promotion of the Kentucky Rx Card, a discount prescription drug program that is free to all Kentuckians.
(Insert information about where card will be available within your city to your citizenry, i.e. “The public will be able to pick up the free cards at all city buildings (including police and fire stations) during normal hours of operation.”) The public may also visit kentuckyrxcard.com to sign-up for and print cards for everyone in their family.
The program was launched to help the uninsured and underinsured residents of Kentucky afford their prescription medications. It’s a discount prescription drug program that is free to all Kentuckians. There are no age limits, no income limits, no waiting periods, and no exclusions and it covers any and all pre-existing conditions for people with or without existing insurance. Cardholders save 20 to 70 percent (with an average of 30 percent) on name brand and generic drugs at nearly 1,000 pharmacies across the state.
How is this possible? The Rx Card program is a national aggregate purchasing and prescription assistance program that is funded through the support of pharmacies and pharmaceutical companies.
Across the state there are hundreds of thousands of Kentuckians not able to afford the medicines they need and these people are going without them. This quite often results in even higher medical costs down the road. That is why this card is being made available to the citizens of (Your city name) at just the right time.
(Insert quote here, from your Mayor or other local official about the program and how it will help your community. Contact Carson Kerr with KLC for quote ideas if necessary.)
For people with insurance or Medicare, this can work for them as well. Because it is NOT insurance, members would be able to see if they get a better price with their existing insurance or with the card. Using the card could be helpful even to people that already have insurance, not to mention many individuals and businesses are going to high deductible plans that don't cover prescriptions.
