Welcome to MCPS!
Tech Tips from the Technical Help Desk
As a new employee, you will access applications that require a secure user name and password
Note: Human Resources will email you a different password for Onboarding, used to complete your MCPS employment paperwork.
MCPS Account Creation
When hired by MCPS, you are assigned a unique employee ID number, a job code and a location of employment. You are also assigned a MCPS User Name (also called a Login ID or User ID) and emailed a temporary Password.
When you receive your temporary password, you are required to reset the password in myID, MCPS’s password security system.
Directions are included in the e-mail or found at: http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/myid/
Your User Name remains constant throughout your career at MCPS. However, your unique password must be changed every 120 days.
An email reminder will be sent to you 2 weeks prior to expiration.
Your Job Code determines your basic access rights to most MCPS applications (listed below). For additional access, written permission to the help desk from an administrator is required.
NOTE: Some MCPS applications require a different password. Use the check list below to keep track of the most common stand-alone accounts most new teachers use (depending on your job code/position).

Data
OASIS (Online Administrative Student Information System) provides a central location for viewing and updating student administrative data, including enrollment, scheduling, demographic and special services information.
MyMCPS is the major depository for student data, assessment data, reports, instructional resources, and curriculum and collaboration sites.
If you are unable to see your classes or students, check with your school’s master scheduler/registrar/guidance counselor to confirm that classes and students are correct in OASIS.
The chart below shows the most common data paths that effect teachers and students:
