FUN GAMES

Pick at least one aspect of every session to be different, e.g. warm up, drills.

Do not be afraid to try something new, even if it fails, you will learn.

Use different equipment.

Vary the groups that players practice in.

Do drills in different positions on the field. ( It will save the pitch as well.)

WARM UP

HOT POTATO;

All players move around a confined area, passing 6/8 footballs, when the coach calls stop a player who has the ball in their hands does an exercise. Balls cannot be on the ground.

CLEAR OUT;

Two large squares, 5/10 players in each square. As many footballs as you can get. Aim is to throw as many footballs out of your square into opponents square, they are doing same. When whistle blows team with least number of balls in their square.

Stretching is done between activities, players are asked to count the hold for each stretch in a different language or way.

SPEED ENDURANCE

Chain Relay;

This is really hard work, but great fun. Players line up behind each other in groups of 4/6 as in normal relay. Player 1 runs around cone 25m and back, grabs hand of 2nd runner and both go to around cone, continue until whole team in a chain get back.

TAILS;

Choose one player to be catcher; all other players are given a bib/ribbon which they tuck into the back of their shorts. Player move around trying to protect their tails while the catcher tries to collect them.

CO-OPERATION GAMES

Tunnel Ball;

Team of 6/8 line up behind each other. Player at front passes ball between legs of the team to the back of the line. Back player brings ball to front of line and passes it back the same way. Each player must come to the front twice. First team to complete this wins. Players must work out fastest way to get ball under legs to back.

OVERHEAD PASS:

Same set up as Tunnel Ball, but the ball is passed overhead to back of line. Back player runs to the front and passes ball back overhead. The challenge is that each player in the line must touch it as it goes to the back. Teams eventually work out some cunning strategies to win.

ZIG ZAG PASSING;

Teams are divided evenly, each team forms two lines; Each team has 3 large balls, 3 small balls and 3 beanbags;

At the signal the large ball is passed zig zag down the line. The small ball and beanbag are passed in the same manner. The team which has all three pieces at finish line is the winner.
