Dmitry V. Suslov (born 1979) performs a Deputy Director at the Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies (since 2006), which belongs to the National Research University – High School of Economics,Senior lecturer at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs of the NRU – HSE(since 2008), as well as a Deputy Director for Research at the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy (since 2004).
In both NRU – HSE and CFDP he conducts research on various issues of World Politics and International Relations, including the US Global Strategy and Russia-US relations, problems of Governance of the International System, EU evolution and policies and Russia-EU relations, problems of European, Atlantic and Eurasian security, Russian Foreign Policy. He also acts as a regular consultant of the Russian government institutions and business enterprises on the US policies and US-Russia relations, EU-Russia relations, and European and Euro-Atlantic security issues.
He is also a Program Director at the Valdai International Discussion Club (since 2014), and a member of the Valdai Club as such.
Besides, Mr. Suslov is the Russian coordinator and member of the Working Group on the Future of the US-Russia Relations, which isa joint venture of the NRU - Higher School of Economics and Harvard University (since 2010).
Mr. Suslov has co-authored several books (incl. The U.S. Policy in Asia Pacific (Moscow, 2014), Non-Military Instruments of the Russian Foreign Policy: Regional and Global Mechanisms (Moscow, 2012); Russia: a Strategy for the New World (Moscow, 2011), Russia vs. Europe. Confrontation or Alliance? (Moscow, 2009), How Could Russia Gain from the World Economic Crisis? (Moscow, 2009), Russia and the World. A New Epoch (Moscow, 2008), The World Politics (Moscow, 2008), The World Around Russia:2017. (Moscow, 2007), The Asia Polygon (Moscow, 2007), etc.), many analytical reports (among the latest ones is The US-Russia Relations After the Reset: Building a New Agenda. Moscow, 2011), and published numerous articles in Russian and foreign academic magazines and press on Russia-EU and Russia-US relations, as well as broader issues of International Relations and World Politics.
Mr. Suslov is also the principal author of the monthly analytical reports on the current development and prospects of the US-Russia Relations, which are distributed among key Russian governmental institutions, business enterprises and decision-makers.
At the NRU– Higher School of Economics (School of World Economy and International Affairs) Mr. Suslov teaches courses on the US Domestic and Foreign Policy(for BA and MA students),Introduction toWorld Politics and International Relations (for BA students), Global Governance (for MA students), US-Russia Relations After the End of the Cold War (for MA students),and the Russia-EU Relations (for MA students).
Before joining the CFDP and the NRU-HSE, Dmitry Suslov worked as a Foreign Affairs Staff Writer for Nezavisimaya Gazeta (The Independent Newspaper) – one of the most respected liberal Federal editions in Russia. Performing as a journalist, Mr. Suslov published about 300 reports, commentaries, surveys and interviewers on various issues of world affairs and Russian Foreign Policy.
Mr. Suslov Suslov graduated from Saint-Petersburg State University, School of International Relations (2001), and Institute of the USA and Canada, Russian Academy of Sciences (2005).
