Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:
- Identify and distinguish the domains and periods of development from early adolescents through emerging adulthood
- Describe various research methods to study development
- Compare and contrast how different theories of development explain changes related to physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development
- Identify the specific genetic and environmental influences (such as socio-economic status, gender, race, ethnicity, English language learners, special needs, culture, religion, schools, media, peers, and family) on the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of adolescents
- Describe variables underlying socio-economic status, racial, ethnic, and gender differences in development
