THURSDAY APRIL 9 = 6PM – SINGLES COMPETITION FOR ALL DIVISIONS BEGIN
FRIDAY APRIL 10 = 10AM – SINGLES COMPETITION CONTINUES
FRIDAY APRIL 10 = 8PM – TEAMS COMPETITION FOR ALL DIVISIONS BEGINS
SATURDAY APRIL 11= 10 AM – TEAMS COMPETITIONS CONTINUE
SUNDAY APRIL 12 = 10AM – TEAM COMPETITION FINALS & COMPLETION OF EVENT
DIVISION INFORMATION FOR SML “SPRING BREAK”
We are providing this information to our teams so that you know what SOME of the criteria is that we look at when making sure that you are entered into the correct division. The information listed below is SOME of the “GENERAL GUIDELINES” that we will be using to assist us with determining where you/your team fit in for the “SPRING BREAK” tournament.
SML reserves the right to rank players & teams
as we deem fit for purposes of this event.
MENS/MIXED TEAMS DIVISION INFORMATION
NOVICE (4 Player teams) – this division is for entry-level players (people who play recreationally & have probably not ever won anything) It would include “B3” & “B2” level teams. Teams wishing to enter this division should have a combined total of no more than 8 feats for all players (“feats” are EROs, 10-0’s & first attempts) listed on their roster.
INTERMEDIATE (5 player teams) – this division is for players who are more competitive & have probably won at least 1 trip to Vegas. It would include “B1” & some entry level “A” teams. Teams wishing to enter this division should have a combined total of no more than 15 feats (“feats” are EROs, 10-0’s & first attempts) for all players listed on their roster.
OPEN (5 player teams) – this division is for players who are very competitive & have probably won numerous trips to Vegas. It would include some “A2”,”A1” & some Masters “B” level teams. Teams in this division would probably have more than 15 feats. (“feats” are EROs, 10-0’s & first attempts) Teams/players wishing to enter this division can’t appear on ANY VEGAS LIST or be deemed of “known” master ability by SML.
MASTERS (5 player teams) – this division is unrestricted. It would include teams that have a player or players who appear on ANY Vegas list, Masters “A” teams & may include some Masters “B” level teams. This would also include players of “known” master ability that do not appear on any Vegas list.
LADIES TEAMS DIVISION INFORMATION
NOVICE (4 Player teams) – this division is for entry-level ladies (ladies who play recreationally & have not ever won anything) This division would include ALL ladies “B” ranked players/teams. Teams wishing to enter this division may not have any players who have previously won a Vegas Trip. Teams in this division would not have more than 5 feats (“feats” are EROs, 10-0’s & first attempts)
OPEN (4 player teams) – this division is for players who are more competitive & have probably won numerous trips to Vegas. It would include Ladies “A” ranked players/teams. This is an unrestricted division and teams may include at least 1 Ladies Vegas Intermediate ranked player. PLEASE NOTE: SML Pool Leagues currently have NO LADIES VEGAS MASTERS in any of our leagues.
MENS/MIXED SINGLES DIVISION INFORMATION
NOVICE SINGLES – Players wanting to enter into this event have played league this year with a ‘FUN’, ‘B3’ or ‘B2’ team. This division is for entry-level players.Players wishing to enter this division may not have previously won a Vegas trip. Players should have no more than 3 feats (“feats” are EROs, 10-0’s & first attempts) to be eligible to enter into this division
INTERMEDIATE SINGLES – Players wanting to enter into this event have played league this year with a ‘B1’ or an entry level “A” team. This division is for more competitive players. Players should have no more than 6 feats (“feats” are EROs, 10-0’s & first attempts) to be eligible to enter into this division
ADVANCED SINGLES – Players wanting to enter into this event have played league this year with a ‘A2’, ‘A1’ or in some cases a Masters ‘B’ team. This division is for the more competitive players. Players who appear on ANY Vegas list are not eligible to enter into this division
MASTERS SINGLES – This is an unrestricted division. Any players who appear on a Vegas list must play in this division. Players of “known” master ability must also play in this division
LADIES SINGLES DIVISION INFORMATION
NOVICE SINGLES – this division is for entry-level ladies (ladies who play recreationally & have not ever won anything) This division would include ALL ladies “B” ranked players. Players wishing to enter this division may not have previously won a Vegas Trip. Players in this division would not have more than 3 feats (“feats” are EROs, 10-0’s & first attempts)
OPEN SINGLES – this division is for players who are more competitive & have probably won a trip to Vegas. It would include Ladies “A” ranked players/teams. This is an unrestricted division & ladies who appear on a Vegas list may play in this division.
PLEASE NOTE: SML Pool Leagues currently have NO LADIES VEGAS MASTERS in any of our leagues.
TEAM & SINGLES FORMATS
Team formats:
Ø Double knockout (you must lose 2 matches to be out of the tournament)
Ø Total points with no handicaps
Ø VNEA rules will apply (patch is required on the 8 ball & new “scratch on the 8 ball rule” is in effect)
MENS/MIXED team DIVISIONS
NOVICE = 16 GAME FORMAT
INTERMEDIATE = 20 GAME FORMAT
DVANCED = 20 GAME FORMAT
MASTERS = 25 GAME FORMAT
LADIES team DIVISIONS
NOVICE & OPEN = 16 GAME FORMAT
Singles formats:

Ø ENTRY FEES must be paid in FULL at time of entry
Ø FULLY COMPLETED “SPRING BREAK” ENTRY FORM with payment is required to enter this event
Ø NO CHEQUES will be accepted. Payment must be by CASH, CREDIT CARD, MONEY ORDER OR DEBIT
Ø NO “on-site” entries will be accepted for the SINGLES OR TEAM portion of this event

Please note on the email or fax: ATTN: Barb REGARDING: Team/Singles ranking for SML “SPRING BREAK”. This should be done PRIOR TO entering the event so that you have time to make changes if needed.
CHANGES/ADDITIONS/DELETIONS to your team roster may only be made:
WHEN: Friday April 10 between 3-4pm
WHERE: Tournament control desk, Olympic Oval
REMEMBER as per VNEA guidelines, Teams are required to have at least 2 ORIGINAL players. All other players can be “picked up” from anywhere in SML Pool Leagues.
SML “SPRING BREAK” GENERAL INFORMATION
Ø VNEA rules will apply (Patch is required on the 8 ball, “new” 8 ball scratch is not a loss rule will apply)
Ø NO ‘on-site’ entries will be accepted for the TEAM or SINGLES portion of this event
Ø ENTRY DEADLINES are firm. It is the player’s responsibility to ensure that the entry is received in our office no later than 4pm on the date of the entry deadline. No entries will be accepted for ANY reason after the deadlines have passed. Players may not “sell”, “transfer”, or “give” their entry spot to another party once they have entered
Ø NO refunds of any kind should a player or team be not able to attend
Ø NO entries will be accepted without PAYMENT IN FULL @ time of entry. Captains are responsible for collecting all monies from their players PRIOR to entering & ensuring that payment in full is made at time of entry
Ø COMPLETED “SPRING BREAK” ENTRY FORM must accompany payment for entry to be accepted
Ø General “start times” are provided in this information. PHONE calls pertaining to the “exact start time” for your team or singles match will not be accepted. Players / Teams should be present and ready to play at least 15 minutes prior to any scheduled matches. There is NO GRACE PERIOD, matches must start at the scheduled time
Ø PLAYERS must be at least 18 years of age to enter this event as per VNEA guidelines. Due to our licensing for this event, there will be no one UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE allowed on the TOURNAMENT FLOOR AT ANY TIME (no children are allowed)
Ø SMOKING in designated areas only. The Olympic Oval is a non-smoking facility. Parties that are caught smoking inside the Olympic Oval (including washrooms) or any other non smoking areas will be subject to being charged & fined under the City of Calgary No Smoking bylaws & will be expelled from the event.
Ø TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR reserves the right to expel ANY person or team who is conducting themselves in an unsportsmanlike or inappropriate manner. There will be no refund of entry fees for anyone who is disqualified & removed from this event.
Ø ALL players MUST have picture identification on them at all times when on the tournament floor. Parties who do not have picture identification are not eligible to be on the tournament floor at any time
Ø TEAMS must have 2 (two) original players with the remainder being from anywhere in SML. (“original players” is defined as people who have played this season on the same team for at least 8 full league nights)
