Standard Attire (Uniforms)

2014 - 2015

Standard attire dress begins the 1st day of school.

  All Standard Attire clothing will follow the MISD Student Code of Conduct dress code. Shirts must be tucked in at all times. Belts must be worn when belt loops are on the garment. (belts are not required for Kinder/1st)All clothing must be the correct size.

Pants, shorts, skorts, capris, jumpers, dresses, and skirts are to be a solid navy, black or khaki (or tan). Pants must be worn at the waist. Shorts/skirts hem must be no more than 3 inches above the knee while standing. No cargo pockets or carpenter styles, stretch material, denim or jean material allowed. Belts must be black or brown and leather or leather like.

·  Shirts must be polo style or oxford style, with collars, in solid white, royal blue, purple, yellow, gray, or black. (underline colors are district colors) Shirts must be long enough to stay tucked in. Shirts must be buttoned. No more than the top two buttons on a shirt may be left unbuttoned. A solid white, royal blue, purple, yellow, gray, or black turtle neck or T-shirt/undershirt may be worn under the uniform shirt.

·  During cool weather a solid white, royal blue, purple, yellow, gray, or black n sweatshirt or sweater may be worn over the uniform shirt with the uniform collar showing. Sweatshirts must not have hoods, pockets or zippers. Winter coats and jackets of any color may be worn before and after school or during outside recess. Leggings of solid uniform colors may be worn under skirts or shorts.

·  Visible logos or labels are to be less than 2” by 2” on any part of the uniform. No tight fitting clothing is allowed.

·  Any distractions including distracting hairstyles, hair color or jewelry are prohibited.

·  On Fridays, a Houston or Midland High spirit t-shirt may be worn with any colored jeans, denim shorts or denim capris that meet MISD dress code. Those students choosing not to wear Friday jeans and school shirt must wear the standard uniform. On Monday’s students may wear a college shirt with their uniform pants, capris, shorts, or skorts.

·  Pre-kindergarten and Head Start students are encouraged but not required to wear standard attire.

·  (No Flip Flops)
