Diversity Team Agenda

February 5, 2015

1.  Black History Month:

·  Dawn has flyers ready for the Meet N’ Greet that will be held February 19th from 11-1 in the Union. Dr. Jacobs gave Dawn information for Ms. Georgella Blanden, who has over 20 0inventions/artifacts from black history. The team agrees, this would be a good day for her to come. We will have a questionnaire for students to win a prize; they will have to look around tables and communicate with participants to find answers. $20 gift card for the name we draw that has the correct answers.

·  February 12 from 11-12 in the Union, Mr. Nate “Bobo” Smalls will come to speak with students about his experiences in life and while playing for teams in the Negro Baseball League. We will ask athletics for the popcorn machine so that we can entice students with snacks J

·  FAMILY FEUD (DACC Feud), Black History Month edition. Will we do a bracket or just high score…high score may be best for timing/scheduling purposes. Suzanna will be Steve Harvey. Dawn will set p a survey monkey with questions to use for the event. Teams will be 5 people; students and employees can play. Prize for winner?

2.  LGBTQ ideas:

·  Andrew will get together with Stefanie Davis (new Rhet instructor) to work on an LGBTQ event or informational materials.

3.  Performances:

·  Incognito- should we promote to students? Is there a ticket fee? There are flyers around.

·  Rocky Horror tickets for students that participate in Family Feud (draw 10 names??). We should definitely promote this event somehow.

4.  End of Year Trip:

·  April or May?

·  St. Louis-Cahokia Mounds and museums. Possibly arch? We would need a charter bus. Museums are free, Cahokia is free.

·  We would essentially pay for bus and food.

5.  Ideas:

·  Pechakucha at Krannert in March? Need to check dates if anyone is interested in going.

Thank you for attending and for your continued dedication J
