Rationale
Regionally and nationally one of the biggest challenges we face is the recruitment of school leaders who reflect the rich diversity of our pupil population. The diversifying school leadership programme seeks to develop culturally aware leadership that addresses the key skills needed for current and future school leadership.
Each participant will have an assigned leadership mentor providing opportunities for coaching and work shadowing. A collaborative approach to learning will be adopted with participants engaging in a variety of activities including face-to-face development, school visits and practical tasks. The programme begins with a session that allows participants to get to know each other and identify their own strengths and developmental needs. This is followed by a two-day residential giving time to participants to learn together and find effective peer support
The modular themes aim to understand the content of and identify potential participants in a development course for middle leaders from under-represented groups.
