District Response to the Tornado Disaster

in the New Orleans East Area

1. Ace Necaise, Chair of the District 6840 Foundation, has notified the District that the Foundation will receive and disburse financial contributions by check [See below]. We are looking into other means for donations as well.

2. Fundamentally three basic avenues of service have been highlighted by various agencies in need of assistance:

A.  Volunteers to continue to assist with recovery efforts.

B.  Restocking of the “saved stores” which were utilized by the various agencies in the immediate response to the tragedy – i.e., response items were used up and need to be replenished

C.  Financial assistance for responding agencies – their response has hit the budgets of several non-profit agencies that have responded generously. This places a burden upon them for their fiscal year.

3. Agencies Responding to the Disaster include are, but are not limited to:

a.  They are asking if at all possible and desirable that Rotarians go through their Disaster Volunteer Training so that when this or the next problem arises Rotarians will be able to assist immediately.
