My thanks to the Lake Echo Lions Club for the excellent job of hosting the Winter Cabinet Meeting on 12th February. At least this year the weather was on our side.

There were approximately 225 Lions from fifty-two clubs in attendance.

I would like also to thank the Lake Echo club for providing the excellent luncheon.

Clubs should now be thinking of their slate of officers for the Lions year 2005-2006 and have their nominating committees in place. PU-101’s are not required to be in International Headquarters until May 15th, but I would like to have them earlier so that I may pass them on to VDG Ray to enable him to get a good start on his Directory for the coming year.

Lion are reminded that the Officers Schools for the year 2005 will be held in the following locations:

April 2nd – Sackville

April 9th – Aylesfsord

April 16th – Truro

May 7th – Port Hawkesbury.

Incoming officers are encouraged to attend one of these schools.The 2005 Leadership Institute is scheduled for April 29,30 and May 1st at Scotia Glen Camp and applications are slow in coming in. A minimum of 24 applications are needed by the 28th of February and unless that number is achieved the Institute will be cancelled. Lions are encouraged to attend this very informative Leadership Institute .

I have just received notification from PDG Charles Uhlman that this Institute is cancelled due to lack of registrations

District Convention – Pictou April 22nd,23rd and 24th. Details were published in the latest edition of the Nova Scotia Lion. Lions who plan on attending and are ordering hospitality books should remit payment for same when ordering.

There is still some accommodation available in Pictou and in New Glasgow. If you are booking accommodations please indicate that you are a Lion and you will receive a reduced rate on your rooms.

M.D.-41 Convention Halifax Nova Scotia.

Dates: May 13th thru 16th 2005.

Applications are slow coming in. Those wishing to attend should make their reservations as soon as possible. Contact PDG Clyde Paul or any of his committee members for more information.

Incumbent Zone Chairpersons should now be in the process of seeking candidates for the coming Lions year. To serve as Zone Chairperson the candidate shall have served or be serving in the position of Club President or Club Secretary.

District 41-N-2 Convention .

Dates: 22nd thru 24th April 2005.

Clubs are allowed one delegate for every ten members or Major portion thereof.IE. a club with 36 members has four votes.

Delegates will be voting for the DG(E), VDG(E) and on the following:

RESOLUTION:

“Are you in favour of allowing the Lions of the State of Maine to form their own separate M.D. subject to the approval of LCI”

On this Resolution Lions are urged to vote in what they perceive to be in the best interests of the M.D.

Zone Speakouts must be completed by March 31st and the winners names submitted to District Speakout Chairperson Dennis MacDonald of the Shubenacadie Lions Club.

Lockeport Visitation will take Place on March 7th (Regular scheduled visit was cancelled due to snow storm)
