DISTRICT 6980 STRATEGIC PLAN 2016-2021

Rotary District 6980’s strategic plan provides the framework for our future, ensuring that we continue to be known as a respected, dynamic organization that advances communities worldwide.

Our Mission is to provide service to others, promote integrity and advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through our fellowship of business,, professional, and community leaders.

Our Strategic Plan identifies seven strategic priorities with various goals. These goals are needed to ensure a strong and vibrant Rotary District going into the future.

  1. DISTRICT LEADERSHIP
  2. Develop a succession plan for all District Chairs: Foundation, Membership, Public Image, Service Projects, Administration, Youth Services and District Secretary and District Treasurer
  3. Each District Chair to develop a Standing Operating Procedure (SOP) for their area
  4. District Leadership should be oriented prior to July 1. A Leadership Retreat is an example of an orientation
  5. DACDB training for all Presidents, AGs, District Leadership team, Secretaries and Treasurers
  6. District Training Seminars should be one or two days with breakout rooms for each area (in July and/or August)
  7. Encourage Rotary Leadership Institute for all District Leadership
  8. Encourage District IT (Information Technology) development
  9. Investigate the prospect of a part time secretary or webmaster or IT person
  10. Encourage Rotarians to serve at District level at the District Training Assembly
  11. Encourage new ideas in club meetings
  12. Reestablish the speakers list
  13. Try new methods of communications
  14. 10% increase in Clubs receiving Presidential Citation per year
  15. FOUNDATION
  16. 100% club participation in setting goals on Rotary.org
  17. 100% club participation in Annual Giving-Share program
  18. 100% club participation in Polio Plus giving
  19. Increase Paul Harris Fellows, Major Donors and Bequest Society members by 5%
  20. Increase Rotary Direct participation by 10%
  21. All clubs participate in a District Grant and/or Global Grant
  22. All clubs attend the Grant Management Seminar annually
  23. SERVICE PROJECTS
  24. 100% club participation in posting of Service projects on Rotary Showcase
  25. Participate in showcasing service projects at the District Conference
  26. Any District Service projects should be multi-area, various times in the District and include Interact and Rotaract Clubs
  27. YOUTH SERVICES
  28. Encourage clubs to sponsor Interact and/or Rotaract Clubs
  29. Rotaract Presidents-Elect attend PETS
  30. DACDB training for Rotaractors
  31. Rotaract Clubs encourage to attain Rotaract Presidential Citation by posting on Rotary.org
  32. Encourage clubs to sponsor students in the RYLA program
  33. District training for the Advisors, Interact and Rotaract
  34. Plan to have a World Interact Week during the week with November 5
  35. Plan to have a World Rotaract Week during the week with March 13
  36. Encourage clubs to host a Youth Exchange student
  37. MEMBERSHIP
  38. Diversity progression for five years
  39. 10% increase in females- 2% per year
  40. 5% increase in other minorities- 1% per year
  41. Increase membership by 60 per year
  42. District goal of 2100 members in five years
  43. Retention of members
  44. Increase the number of RLI starts by 5% per year
  45. Train clubs in running an effective fireside chat
  46. Encourage more fellowship events in clubs
  47. District leadership should find and promote methods that are working in clubs
  48. CLUB ADMINISTRATION
  49. Increase training for Treasurers and Secretaries
  50. 100% Computer literate in five years
  51. Cut late reports down to zero
  52. PUBLIC IMAGE
  53. First class monthly newsletter
  54. Develop more media contacts
  55. Use Facebook and other media to tell clubs and District story
  56. Well published events
  57. 100% clubs receiving Public Image Citation
