Approval of Minutes of District Kinvention 2014– Motion DG SharoleBell seconded LynneAnderson (Armstrong Kin). Carried.

Business Arising from District Kinvention 2014 Minutes-

-Tabled motion re code of conduct. Motion Kelly Woywitka seconded Dan Stenson to table until District Kinvention. Carried.

Old Business:

-Presentation of Financial Statements from District Council 2013-2014. As the Financial Statements were not available 45 days prior to FLC; Governor Scott asked for leave to introduce the Financial Statements for 2013-2014. Motion Dave Owen seconded Dan Stenson to present the Financial Statements. Carried. Past Governor Anita Llewellyn presented a draft statement noting that although the totals agreed with bank statements, Cystic Fibrosis and District reserve amounts were reversed,and some line items were combined incorrectly. The completed financial review will correct the reserved amounts only.Motion Past Governor Anita Llewellyn seconded by Shae Webber to passthe financial statements as presented. Carried.

-Presentation of Financial Statements for District Kinvention 2014 –Heather Martin (Penticton Kinettes)- Motion Heather Martin seconded Cyrille Barnabe (Port Coquitlam Kinsmen) to adopt. Carried.

-Motion to ratify all District Actions to date – Motion Anita Llewellyn seconded Kelly Woywitka. Carried.

First Call for Bids – Fall Leadership Conference 2015

New Business –

-District Executive and Deputy Governor Reports

-Membership – 13 “Newbies” (First time to FLC) were recognized and name badges were tagged

-Names the same – Cathy Johns reminded everyone to make sure that the name of your Club is identical to the name at National, the Societies Act and CRA.

-Awards – Sharole stated there are new awards with new rules. Awards chairmen are to be appointed in all Clubs.Be involved and enter your Club for Awards. Old existing banners will be retired and presented to Clubs that last earned them. Bannerettes will be presented for this year’s winners. Notice of Motion by Sharole to spend up to $5,000.00 for new banners.

-Service Director Kelly Woywitka – Money was collected and helium filled blue balloons were released. Chris Siver (Victoria Kinsmen) reported that the Times-Colonist 10K run in Victoria has now added Cystic Fibrosis Victoria as a recognized Charity to which runners and teams can now donate their money.

-Presentation of Proposed Cystic Fibrosis Budget 2014-15 – Kelly Woywitka. Motion Kelly Woywitka seconded Sharole Bell to adopt budget. Carried.

-Special Presentation by Mike Kennedy(Coquitlam Kinsmen) – Reported on success and plans for his project “One Dime at a Time” project

- National Presentation–Andy Leitch National Director D5

- National Reports – Ric McDonald – National Operations Update

-Cheque Presentation – Kelowna Kinsmen presented a cheque for $1200.00 to Kinsmen Foundation.

Motion Steve Kalugin seconded Paul Lenz to adopt reports. Carried.

Second Call for Bids– Fall Leadership Conference 2015

Town Hall open discussion from District Five (40 minutes) –

Discussion as follows:

-Bringing back Presidents Pre-term to train new Presidents, increase fellowship

-Zone Executive training

-District surplus carryover should be used for the Clubs, not sent back as rebates

-More education at Zone level

-Kin/Cystic Fibrosis Day similar to A&W/MS Day

-Set up calendar with each Clubs projects on D5 website

-Kinvention dates – Existing House Rules state starting 2016 dates are up to host Club

-Look into National benefit plan to cover medical and dental for Kin members

-Invite Cystic Fibrosis or ALS people to Kinvention

-Encouraging females to join Kinsmen Clubs – Don’t have to change Club names

-Get Community Sponsorship when doing projects

-Car pool with other Clubs to District meetings – increase fellowship, save costs

Kinsmen Foundation Presentation: 11:00 am to Noon. Scott Wells reported $25,000.00 profit from golf tournament. Clubs should set up Kin Liaison to the Kinsmen Foundation. Simon Cox showed old video showing the beginnings of assisted living aids provided by the Kinsmen Foundation to the physically disabled. Guest Speaker Walt Laurence, a quadriplegic in a sip & puff wheel chair, told a movingstory of how assisted living aids made a huge difference in his life.

Third and Final Call for Bids with presentations and vote –Fall Leadership Conference 2015 – The only bid was from the Kitimat Kinsmen Club to host in Prince George. Dates will be October 16-18, 2015

Special Presentation– Patricia Devlin 1:00 to 2:30 PM – Covered many topics including how to handle bullying, friction in the work environment and discrimination.

Coffee Break –2:30 to 2:45

District Kinvention 2015 Presentation –District Nine – Joanne Rees (Comox Valley Kin) presented a video and an update. Hotel is right on the beach close to all amenities. Lots of things within walking distance for spouses and kids.

Liquor Laws–Scott Wood 3:00 to 3:30 PM – Covered new laws, Liquor permits, beer gardens, fencing, liquor purchases, security and BC Liquor Control contact to answer all your questions.

Special Presentation–Past National President Dave Tidbury and Past Governor Cathy Johns 3:30 till 4:45 – Covered Quicken Books, P&L reports, treasurers reports,bank accounts, signing authority, turnover at year end, electronic cheques, invoicing,

-District Bowling Trophy – Wii champion DG Todd Watson

-Four tickets to tonight’s Vancouver Canucks/Tampa Bay Lightning game were auctioned off for $1,000.00 with proceeds to the Kinsmen Foundation.

-Dave Owen donated $50,000.00 to the Kinsmen Foundation from the estate of Todd Owen

Sergeant-at-Arms Report – Motion Ron Skuggedal (Kitimat) seconded Kin Larry Adair (Ladysmith) to donate $128.91 in fines to the Kinsmen Foundation. Carried.
