Rotary Year 2012-2013

Instructions to Presidents-Elect:

You will be judging Clubs that are not in your Division. PEs from medium and large clubs will judge small clubs. PEs from small and large clubs will judge medium clubs. Large clubs will be judged by the Assistant Governors. The final phase will consist of a review by the District Governor and District Chairs of results from your judging. The judging is voluntary. Remember that your club gets bonus points for submitting your scoring sheet on time.

Clubs are divided into three size divisions. Awards will be given out to the 1st and 2nd place clubs in each division (for most of the award categories). Club size is based on membership as of the July 1, 2012 RI SAR, NOT on what you report on your awards sheet(s).

Small Clubs(≤29 members):

Diamond Head Honolulu, Hawaii Kai, Honolulu Pau Hana, Kalepa Sunrise, Kaneohe, Kapolei, Kapolei Sunset, Kihei Sunrise, Kona Mauka, Kona Sunrise, Lahaina Sunrise, Maui, Mililani Sunrise, Pahoa Sunset, Upcountry Maui, Valley Isle Sunset, Volcano, Wahiawa-Waialua, Waianae Coast, Wailuku, West Kauai, West Pearl Harbor, Windward Oahu Sunrise

Medium Clubs (30-49 members)

Ala Moana, Downtown Honolulu, Hanalei Bay, Hilo Bay, Honolulu Sunrise, Kahala Sunrise, Kahului, Kapaa, Kihei-Wailea, Kona, Lahaina, North Hawaii, Pearl Harbor, Pearlridge, Poipu Beach, South Hilo, West Honolulu, Windward Oahu

Large Clubs (≥50 members)

East Honolulu, Hilo, Honolulu Sunset, Honolulu, Metropolitan Honolulu, Waikiki

For each category, please choose the top FIVE Clubs based on submissions by the clubs seeking awards. It is very important to select FIVE Clubs. Write the number (in red at the top of each submission, ex: L1) of the club in order of preference: (#5 is the best, #4 is next best, etc (5 points awarded to the top club, 4 points to the next, etc.) You will be judging the following categories:

You will find the submissions on the District website (www.rotaryd5000.org) on the “Awards” page beginning 6A, Friday, 22 March. Be sure to judge only the submissions in the division you are assigned to and please note that some may have a checklist without a narrative. Identify the club by the number written on the top right.

CLUB ADMINISTRATION AWARD: This award involves many of the programs revolving around the operations of your club and the weekly meetings. These items would include club programs, social functions, meeting ambiance, Family of Rotary inclusion, and attendance. Special consideration will be given to clubs participating in multi-club social events.

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD: Service defines Rotary's character; whether local or international, it promotes Rotary's appeal and visibility in the community, and is the reason Rotary continues to grow. Community service responds to the needs of a local community. Rotary clubs should determine top priorities for service projects by first learning about a community's needs and assets and then developing a response that addresses them.

FOUNDATION PROGRAMS PARTICIPATION: The Rotary Foundation is more than giving money. This award will be for clubs who have the highest participation in Foundation Programs. This includes giving to TRF, NID's, GSE team, Ambassadorial Scholars, Matching Grants, etc. No narratives.

INTERNATIONAL SERVICE AWARD: This award involves projects that take place outside of the United States. International projects should identify a specific need that will improve the quality of life and benefit others within that intended area. Matching grants and projects can be done by one or more Clubs. Other international projects involve the establishment of Sister Clubs, sponsoring an Ambassadorial Scholars, Group Study Exchanges, Rotary Youth Exchange, projects that promote cultural awareness & world understanding.

MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AWARD: Effective membership growth begins with a plan. This award celebrates those clubs who have an overall program encompassing the elements of membership.

VOCATIONAL SERVICE AWARD: As business leaders, Rotarians share their skills and expertise through vocational service. Your vocational service efforts can play a vital role in improving the quality of life for those hardworking members of the community. A Vocational project can be mentoring, career days, vocational awards, business assistance, or even talking about your job at a club meeting.
