1.The meeting was called to order by Tom Clapper at 3:15 pm. In attendance were:

2.Committee welcome – Chairman Tom Clapper welcomed everyone to the meeting and had everyone introduce themselves. Mike Christy announced that he was stepping down as Vice Chairman and that Kevin Parker would be the 2015 Vice Chairman.

3.Review of Minutes - The committee reviewed and approved previous minutes from the October 2014 meeting.

4.Review of the Safety/Risk Management Charter – Mike Christy reviewed the charter with the committee. There were no additions or changes.

5.Review of the Safety/Risk Management Board Report–

  1. 2015 Safety Congress will be April 6-8, at the Westin in San Diego.
  2. The 2014 Safety Director of the Year and Safety Person of the Year Recommendation forms would be sent in Mid-February with a March 10th deadline.

6.Review of the Safety Person of the Year AwardRecommendation Form– Tom Clapper reviewed the results of the conference call for the final revisions of the Safety Person of the Year Recommendation form.

a)What has he/she done to demonstrate safety leadership? (up to 5 points) - Describe the innovation or actions this person has done so we can understand how impressive this is.

b)Specifically, what was implemented and/or did this person do? (up to 5 points) - Describe the effort including: cost, number of people involved, who within the organization were involved, time spent, etc.

c)What was the impact? (up to 5 points) - Did this fix a long standing problem? Does the company have documented statistics or cost data showing the impact? Does this transform the company somehow?

7.Arthur T. Everham Safety Award Review – The committee reviewed the manhour distribution of the Everham Safety Award. The 3 categories were about equal, so no changes were suggested.

8.2015 Safety Congress Schedule – Tom Clapper encouraged everyone to send their safety professionals to the April 6-8, 2015 Safety Congress in San Diego.

9.New Business – Eben Wyman said that Stu Buhrendorf of The Hallen Construction Co. has volunteered for the Best Practices Committee that will meet in Washington, DC.

10.Adjournment - The meeting was adjourned at 3;30 pm. The next meeting will be held in conjunction with the DCA Mid Year Meeting, July 22-26, at Kingsmill Resort, in Williamsburg, VA.
