Welcome to Discover OKC! We’re thrilled to have you as a member and we hope you have as much fun attending events as we have hosting them.

With the constant influx of new faces it’s necessary to have a few ground rules in place for all group members to ensure the fun, safety, and reputation of this group and our events.

Discover OKC Ground Rules and Code of Conduct:

  1. Members who habitually no-show for events or cancel at the last minute will be removed from the group. Our volunteer organizers plan events, make themselves available to answer your questions, make reservations, and sometimes pre-pay for events – don’t repay them for donating their time by not showing up.
  2. Please make every effort be on time or notify the event host if you’re running late. Getting stuck in traffic or getting lost on the way to an event can happen to anyone - when in doubt try to arrive early.
  3. We’re not a Singles Meetup Group (there are some out there, feel free to join them). While chemistry is bound to happen between group members from time to time please keep in mind that not everyone who comes to our events is looking for romance. Making advances toward every member in attendance will probably get you barred from future events.
  4. We don’t generally have an issue with this but: ifyou’re unhappy with a specific group member or a specific event please contact an Organizer directly and we will address the situation accordingly. Posting negative comments on the Meetup forum creates unwanted drama and will most likely result in you being removed from the group.
  5. We love new members to post upcoming events however we do ask that you attend at least 3 Meetup events with Discover OKC before you post an event of your own (unless you have prior consent of a Discover OKC Organizer). Events which violate this rule may be removed at the discretion of the leadership team.If you’re hosting an event your profile must include a current photo.
  6. Please don’t post an event if you are not able or have no intention of being the event host for that Meetup event. Among other things, this means being responsive to questions regarding the specifics of the event and helping members find the group once the event starts.
  7. Please don’t use our forum to promote your business, club, religious\political beliefs, services, or yourself. Comments or Meetup events to this effect without the prior consent of a Discover OKC Organizer will be removed without hesitation.
  8. Safety is paramount. If you feel at any time your safety or the safety of another member is in question please reach out to a member of the leadership team immediately. We haven’t had an issue with this either but it’s better to be safe than sorry.
  9. And last but not least, get off the couch and join us!Have fun, smile, let your hair down, make new friends, laugh, and enjoy the moment.
