Pekin FCI Team - Fourth Quarter Report – 2017
Greetings Friends,
We are now ten weeks into a 32 week study of “Disciple 4” with twenty men at the Pekin Federal Prison.
This is the latest group of men to study 16 weeks in the Old Testament and16weeks in the New Testament together, with the Old Testament readings including a lot of the books of the Jewish “Writings”
Even though it costs about $100 per student to supply the material ( Books & Bibles ) for these studies, your generous support has enabled us to facilitate all of these studies “in the black” :
- Disciple 1 ( Fall 2013 )
- Disciple 1 Fast Track ( Fall 2014 )
- Disciple 2 ( Fall 2015 )
- Disciple 1 ( Fall 2016 )
- Disciple 4 ( Fall 2017 )
It is encouraging to hear the men talk about sharing what they are learning back in the Housing Units, in the Library, Out on the Yard, In the Mess Hall, and most importantly with their families back home ( via phone calls & visits ).
Sometimes we don’t get the privilege of knowing or witnessing the impact of someone hearing God’s WORD and experiencing God’s Love, but once in a while God allows us peek behind the curtain to see His handy-work :
During the current class, men recently shared the following ;
- Ronnie grew up attending a Jewish synagogue, but recently shred this :
- “I enjoy this study because I’m hearing a message of Inclusion rather that one of Exclusion.”
( Ronniehas accepted Christ as his personal Savior ). - Chad grew up attending an Islamic masque, but recently shared this :
- “I enjoy this study because I’m experiencing an invitation accompanied by Love instead of demand accompanied by a threat.” ( Chad was Baptized a few weeks ago ).
- Sean was transferred to an Ohio facility over the summer, but recently shared this via mail :
- “After studying with all of you the last two years, I missed the fellowship of the “Disciple” study group so much that I havestarted a weekly Bible Study here in Ohio. Thanks for getting me started !”
Please know that you have allowed results like these to happen in the hearts & lives of the men behind bars at Pekin FCI, and beyond, because of your generosity.
Thank You & God Bless Youfrom the Pekin DBOM team,
