The Council for Disabled Children and KIDS are forming a new young people’s advisory group. The group will include up to 12 disabled young people and young people with special educational needs (SEN) aged 14-25.

The group will work together to share their views and experiences to help us understand how disabled children and young people and those with SEN want to receive the support and services they need.

The group will meet in London three times a year and someyoung peoplefrom the group will also be able to spend three days a year in local areas giving advice on local support and services.

Your advice will help CDC and KIDS to understand how changes to support are affecting disabled children and young people and those with SEN’s lives.

You will

  • Share your experiences and expertise
  • Give feedback and advice
  • Talk to professionals about how to make positive changes to improve things for all disabled young people and those with SEN

  • be available to come to 3 national group meetings in London per year
  • be available to attend 3 regional meetings per year
  • be able to share thoughts and ideas with adults in the regional areas
  • be able to work together with both adults and young people

Why should I get involved?

CDC and KIDS think it is important that disabled children and young people and those with SEN have a say in how they are supported and in the services that are available for them.

We want to hear from as many disabled children and young people and those with SEN as possible and make sure that all disabled children and young people and those with SEN can be involved in decisions about their care and support.

What will you gain?

  • Get to meet and work with new people
  • Get to share your views and ideas
  • Gain new skills
  • Help to make support and services reflect what disabled children and young people and those with SEN think
  • Take part in meetings

We will pay your travel expenses to take part in meetings and other activities.
