Disability Resource Center How To: Zoom Cart

The DRC’s Zoom Cart was developed to help provide access to the classroom for students who are not able to be present in the classroom due to a disability. The DRC’s Zoom Cart is reserved for students who have been registered and approved and have received the accommodation of “Use of Zoom Cart” through The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Disability Resource Center. The cart is to be checked out only by UTC faculty and staff. Please return within one hour from the end of class.

  • To check out the DRC’s Zoom Cart, complete the online check out form found on the DRC webpage under:

  • View the calendar on the DRC’s Zoom Cart webpage to make sure the date and time needed for checkout is available.
  • Once approved, the faculty / staff member will be informed of the window they may retrieve the Zoom Cart from the DRC.
  • How to use laptop
  • Make sure laptop is plugged in to an outlet during use.
  • Open laptop and turn on.Wait until you see the standard start up screen.
  • Log on using your UTC ID and Password.
  • Open Google Chrome by clicking on theicon on thetoolbar at the bottom of the screen.

  • On any UTC page, click on the students link in the upper left hand corner to navigate to the student resource page.
  • Click on “Student with Disabilities” link on the student resource page to navigate to the DRC home page.
  • How to use Zoom
  • From the DRC home page, click on the Faculty Resources option in the navigation pane on the left side of the web page.
  • Under the Faculty Resources drop down menu, click on Zoom Cart.
  • On the DRC Zoom Cart Page, click “Zoom Log In”.
  • Choose start a meeting.

  • Log in with your UTC ID and Password.

  • If prompted, click on “Launch Application”

  • When prompted, click “Join Audio by Computer”.
  • Click “Invite”.

  • Click “Copy Invitation”.

  • Back on the DRC Zoom page, click the link forXmail.
  • Log into Xmail with your UTC ID and password.
  • Paste invite into an email and send to student using their UTC email address.
  • Return to Zoom and wait for student to log on.
  • Once student has logged on, make sure student can see the front of the classroom and can hear you speaking.
  • For trouble shooting call the DRC at 423-425-4006
  • Return procedure
  • Close out of all programs on the computer.
  • Make sure you have logged out of the computer.
  • Shut down the computer.
  • Make sure all equipment is still present:
  • Laptop
  • Charger
  • Camera
  • Return the DRC’s Zoom Cart to the same area where faculty/staff picked the cart up.
