Marine Atlantic Inc. is a Federal Crown corporation that provides a vital ferry service link between Newfoundland & Labrador and mainland Canada.

Reporting to the VP Finance, the Director of Supply Chain Management is responsible for Procurement and Materials Management. This position is located in our North Sydney location.

A unique entity within the Marine Atlantic Inc. organization, the Supply Chain Management Department provides Purchasing, Contract Management, Warehousing, and Material Management Services for the entire company. The department is structured in two sections: Procurement and Materials Management. The department’s central purchasing office is located in North Sydney, NS and Materials Management operates in two locations with warehousing facilities in Port aux Basques, NL and in North Sydney, NS.

Highlights of Responsibilities:

·  Manages the Supply Chain Management Department to ensure the Corporation procures supplies, services, and equipment effectively and obtains maximum value.

·  Accountable for the overall planning, implementation, and optimization of all activities and support required for the delivery of products to the customers, from materials acquisition through distribution, including contract negotiations.

·  Manages the purchasing process to assure compliance with the provisions of the Corporation’s Procurement Policy.

·  Is the Corporation’s resource in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management related topics and activities. Keeps up to date with industry (Marine and Supply Chain) to ensure the company is up to date.

Education:

Required:

·  Bachelor degree from a recognized university in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.

Assets:

·  Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or other related field

·  Certification in a procurement or supply chain area of practice: Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional Purchaser (C.P.P.), or Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP)

Experience:

Essential Qualifications:

·  Minimum of 8 years experience in a senior decision making role; five of which must include involved experience in a senior leadership/management capacity.

·  Proven ability to use software applications appropriate to the job function including: Microsoft Office Suite of Applications (including MS Project), Finance/Purchasing/Warehousing Applications, and various business intelligence tools.

·  Strong working knowledge of financial management practices and principles.

·  Strong analytical skills.

·  Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills.

·  Proven track record in effectively planning and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Assets:

·  Experience in a supply chain management capacity.
