Dear Mr Burke,

I am writing in response to your request for information of 7 April 2009 about a meeting of the West Midlands Regional Select Committee. Your request has been considered under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. I can confirm that this Office does hold the information that you have requested and that I am able to provide you with the following information.

I can confirm that Government Office for the West Midlands or its staff were not involved in setting up a public meeting of the West Midlands Regional Select Committee that was cancelled on 30 March 2009 and rearranged to take place on 20 April 2009. We did not therefore lose financially by the meeting being rearranged.

All public and private meetings held by each Regional Select Committee are arranged centrally by the Regional Committee Team at the House of Commons, London SW1P 3JA. Further information about the Regional Select Committees is available on the Parliament Website at www.parliament.uk .

Government Office aims to be as helpful as possible in the way it deals with requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004. If, however, you are not satisfied with the way in which your request has been handled or the outcome, information about Government Office review procedures and how to apply for an internal review of your case is contained in the enclosed leaflet. This also explains your right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision in the event that you remain dissatisfied following the authority's review

If you have any queries about this letter, please contact me. Please remember to quote the reference number above in any future communications.

Yours sincerely

John Perkins

Deputy Director of Economic and Organisational Development
