Player Development Specialist

Reports to:Manager of Junior Play

Job Summary:

Support and implement player development programs for Northern California junior tennis players and coaches. Work and collaborate with your manager, committees, junior tennis coaches, players and parents to implementthe long term comprehensive strategic plan and guide players through a player development pathway; ranging from R.O.G, Junior Team Tennis, Tournaments, Collegiate, Pro Circuit, to US Open Champion.Promote USTA membership growth.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Experience and working knowledge in the areas of player development; coaching education and sport science, player identification and development, junior and collegiate competition and regional/national training and coaching as well as media, marketing, and diversity/inclusion.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively while keeping stakeholders informed of progress.Can-do attitude, the ability to plan projects and manage projects as directed, superior verbal communication skills, excellent organizational and planning skills and strong sense of personal integrity are important qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Player Development

  • Carry out directives for player development pathway within NorCal.
  • Work with your manager to gauge the effectiveness of Player Development efforts as compared to mission, goals and desired outcomes.
  • Organize, coordinate, and run events: Regional Training Center Camps (RTC’s), PDC’s, EDC’s, Campus Showdowns, Junior Awards and more.
  • Collaborate with the tennis community and guide as many players as possible (novice to collegiate ranked) through the player development pathway.
  • Build andmaintain successful partnerships with the community (players, parents, coaches, organizations, academies) to team together to expand many more NorCal top players.
  • Educate junior players, parents, coaches on the wide variety of programs and/or resources available through USTA (R.O.G, tournaments, scholarships, travel teams, collegiate opportunities, relationships with academies, etc).
  • Bring greater recognition and engagement to middle and top ranked players.
  • Administrative work; travel arrangements for players, hotel logistics, lists, rosters, all supporting paperwork for any player development programs or initiatives.
  • A customer service focused background; internal and external
  • Navigate theperimeters of a volunteer driven organization.
  • Work collaboratively with Board and Committees; as directed by your manager
  • Work collaboratively with all departments
  • Work both independently and collaboratively combining vision with administrative competence.
  • Work on a wide range of Player Development projects.

Financial Administration

  • Providebudget and provide timely projections, variances, rationale and other reports and updates as requested.
  • Work closely with Operations and Accounting.
