Director of Evaluation and Impact Analysis

Seed Global Health is a Boston-based 501(c)(3) non‐profit agency that strives to strengthen health education and delivery in places facing a dire shortage of health professionals by working with partner countries to meet their long-term health care human resources needs. Seed’s flagship program, the Global Health Service Partnership (GHSP), a unique public-private partnership with the U.S. Peace Corps and PEPFAR, works with partner countries to place US nurses and doctors alongside local faculty to educate and mentor the next generation of nursing and medical professionals in several countries in Africa.

The Director of Evaluation and Impact Analysis reports to the Chief Strategic Officer and is responsible for the mixed-method evaluation of the program’s outputs, outcomes and impact linked to the organization’s strategic plan. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Designing and overseeing the implementation of an innovative andrigorous mixed-methodsevaluation of five core programmatic areas:
  • Country status and impact
  • Institutional impact and experiences
  • Student and faculty experiences
  • Volunteer experiences and impact
  • Inputs, operations and management
  • Preparing annual reports that reflect overall program outputs, outcomes and impact with sub-analysis by country, institution and discipline and that meet the reporting requirements of the Peace Corps, PEPFAR and other funding agencies.
  • Collaborating with relevant faculty to disseminate the programs outcomes and impact through publications and presentations at scholarly meetings
  • Overseeing and directing the work of research team based at headquarters (Boston) and in-country.
  • Collaborating with relevant Seed Clinical staff to:
  • Mentor GHSP faculty and country faculty around practice improvement projects, evaluation and preparing outcomes for dissemination.
  • Mentor GHSP and country faculty around research methods(undergraduate, masters and PhD level)
  • Assure that appropriate Ethics/IRB approvals are sought when indicated.
  • Identifying relevant grant funded evaluation opportunities and participate in grant writing.

Candidate must be self‐driven and aspire to the highest standards of excellence. Desired skills include:

  • PhD in a related area [public health, health services research, population health, nursing].
  • At least 5 (five) years of experience in program evaluation or research and an appreciation of the challenges inherent in evaluation methods carried out in real-world global settings.
  • Demonstrated experience in mixed methods evaluation and impact analysis and a track record of grant funding and publication.
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexibility and demonstrated ability to think creatively about measuring program effectiveness and impact.
  • Ability to deliver polished, professional outputs of outstanding quality.
  • Data management and data analysis skills.
  • Experience in global health
  • Demonstrated cross‐cultural sensitivity and ability to build respectful relationships with colleagues from different cultural, linguistic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of Seed Global Health.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Occasional travel required to attend off‐campus meetings and/or conferences and to support international collaborations.
