PERSON SPECIFICATION

If applicants believe that their qualifications are equivalent to those listed, then this must be clearly detailed by the applicant on the application form. The panel may request evidence of equivalency before an applicant is called to interview.

Applicants should demonstrate in their application how they meet all the criteria outlined below. Clear evidence should be provided of all the elements of each criterion in the application form giving specific length of experience, examples and dates. It is not sufficient to simply provide a list of duties and responsibilities. The selection panel will not make assumptions from the title of an applicant’s post or the nature of the organisation as to the skills and experience gained.

If an applicant does not provide sufficient detail, including the appropriate dates, in their application form against each individual criterion as stated, the selection panel will reject the application.

The following essential criteria will be applied at shortlisting stage.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must, as at the closing date for receipt of applications:

  1. Have a third level qualification linked to social policy and or good relations, or equivalent qualification.
  1. At least 3 years’ experience in a Management role of planning and prioritising workloads, managing projects/tasks, managing budgets, completing work on time and assigning work to others as appropriate. This will include at least 3 years’ experience of line managing staff to include developing, leading and implementing plans to achieve strategic goals and business planning.
  1. At least 3 years’ experience in a Management role in a public body or a voluntary organisation that works closely with the public sector designing and delivering policy, communications and engagement processes. This will include experience of multi-agency partnership delivery; experience of developing, maintaining and disseminating resources; and experience of managing research projects.
  1. At least 3 years’ experience in a Management role in a public body or a voluntary organisation that works closely with the public sector setting and controlling budgets
  1. At least 3 years’ experience in a Management role in a public body or a voluntary organisation that works closely with the public sector of event management to include organising, conferences, information events, advisory or discussion groups.
  1. At least 3 years’ experience in a Management role in a public body or a voluntary organisation that works closely with the public sector to raise awareness and the profile of an organisation using an integrated approach to communications, engagement and marketing activities. This will include experience of planning and implementing a public relations strategy and campaign using the media, social media channels, websites and other online media.
  1. At least 3 years’ experience in a Management role of personal communication in a public body or a voluntary organisation that works closely with the public sector to a wide range of people and organisations in formal and informal settings both orally and in writing. This will include experience in promoting corporate messages to influence and persuade audiences including elected representatives, government departments, sectoral bodies and the public.
  1. At least 3 years’ experience of using the Microsoft Office range of programmes in particular Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook in a work place setting.
  1. A current and valid driving licence and access to personal transport for business use/or* have access to a form of transport which will permit the applicant to meet the requirements of the post in full (*This relates to any person who has declared to having a disability which debars them from driving).
