Walk down the road and before you reach the bridge over the dual carriageway – cross over the road to the millennium Square where the Gala Theatre is. There are some benches and blocks to sit on where you can stop to hear the track Peter’s denial.

Jesus is condemned to death.

Walk back to Claypath and bear right continuing over the dual carriageway towards the city centre and the Market Place. Pass St Nick’s Church on the right hand side. There is an entrance to the Indoor Market next to the Town Hall (signed Durham Indoor Market) At that entrance you can see the bars of the condemned cell on the left hand side in between the tattoo shop. Stop at the bars of the condemned cell for this track.

Carrying the cross. Come out of the entrance to the Indoor Market and you are in the Market Square. Start here and you can listen to this track while you walk up the main street Saddler Street. This is the road on the left with the Nationwide Bank on left hand corner. It’s the main road towards the Cathedral. Please stop before you reach Zizzi Restaurant half way up the hill on the left hand side.

Daughters of Jerusalem. Between the restaurants the Cellar Door and Zizzi’s, there is a small entrance on the left hand side signposted Drury Lane. Walk down here. The steps are a little uneven so please be careful. You can listen to the track Daughters of Jerusalem half way down where there is a verandah and a courtyard.

This part of the walk is uneven and has steep steps – if you would rather not take this route, you can carry walking up the road and take the right fork up Owensgate towards the Cathedral. The next stop is the cross to the right of the Cathedral entrance.

Crucifixion. Carry walking down Drury Lane towards the river Wear. Turn right along the riverside path. The walk may be a bit muddy so please be careful. As you reach the Kingsgate bridge you will see a turning to the right. Go up the steps and at the top turn left, onto Bow Lane walking towards the Cathedral. When you reach the main road turn right and immediately left onto Dun Cow Lane (this is almost straight on from the bridge). Walk towards the Palace Green with the Cathedral on your left. Walk to the end of the path and turn left as if you were going to the main entrance for the Cathedral. On the right hand side up a slight hill is the Durham Light Infantry Cross. Stop here for the crucifixion track.
