Short Story and Poetry Competition

Conditions of Entry (Please read carefully)

All entries must be on A4 white paper, fastened with a paper clip, no staples. Each entry is to be

accompanied by a fully completed and signed entry form. (Entry form may be photocopied if needed).

Please provide two copies of each entry.

The author’s name and address must not appear anywhere on the manuscript.

Each page must be numbered and include the title of the story or poem.

Stories must be fictional, typed, double-spaced and no more than 500 words open section,

Primary school section no more than 150 words, Secondary school section no more than 250 words.

Poetry, free or rhyming verse, to be of no more than 20 lines, single-spaced for all sections.

Any non-conforming entries will not be considered.

As entries will not be returned, entrants should keep a copy of their work.

Entries will not be accepted via fax, email, computer disc, or memory stick. Receipt of entries

will not be acknowledged.

All entries must be mailed to: Coal Creek Literary Festival, P. O. Box 193, Korumburra 3950

Competition closes on Friday 24th September 2010. Late entries will not be accepted.

Entry Fees: $5 Open Section $3 Primary and Secondary Section

Cheques or money orders to be made out to: K.C.D.A. Inc.

Entries must be the original, previously unpublished work of the entrant. If your entry has been entered

in another competition and wins a prize, you must notify us as soon as possible.

Multiple entries will be accepted in both categories, but authors can only win one prize per category.

The entry form on the other side of this document may be photocopied for multiple entries.

The judges reserve the right to withhold prizes if entries are not considered to be of sufficient standard.

The judging panel’s decision will be final. No correspondence will be entered into.

Winners ONLY will be notified via telephone.

Open Section 1st Prize $200.00 2nd Prize $75.00 for Short story and/ or poem.

Primary School section 1st Prize $50.00 2nd Prize $25.00 for Short story and /or Poem.

Secondary School section 1st Prize $100.00 2nd Prize $50.00 for Short story and /or Poem.

Prize winners will be announced at 6.00pm at the Coal Creek Literary Festival 9.10.2009

The winning entries will be published in The Great Southern Star Newspaper

and the December issue of The Burra Flyer.
