Directions for Office365 and OneDrive

You have obviously logged onto my website if you are seeing this document. (

To create a new document:

  1. The next step is to click on the link for Office365 under the Quick Links on this page.
  2. Sign in to Office365 using the same logon on as you do for the computers at school.
  3. Outlook (your email) will be the first thing that opens up. Click the tile box in the top left corner of your screen.
  4. Click on the OneDrive icon on your screen.
  5. Click on New
  6. Click on Word Document
  7. A window will open that looks a lot like a regular windows document screen.

Sometimes the toolbar that allows you to change the font and edit your work will be hiding from you. At the top of the screen click on the HOME button and the toolbar will appear.

Renaming your document:

  1. Your document is currently titled Document or Document followed by a number
  2. You will need to rename your document to reflect the assignment that you have created
  3. To do this you will need to click on the word document in the top black bar and type the new document name
  4. That’s it!

Saving your work:

  1. The wonderful thing about composing your work online using Office365 is that your work is automatically saved and is now available to work on from any computer with internet access.

Editing your work:

  1. There will be times when you start a document on a computer in one class but need to continue working on it from home.
  2. Open Office365 as stated above – Open documents as stated above
  3. Find the document that needs editing (this is why we rename our documents) and click on it to open it up.
  4. In the top right corner of the screen click “Edit Document”
  5. It will ask if you want to ‘edit in word’ or ‘Edit in word online’. Choose the online version so that your work will be automatically saved.

Printing your work:

  1. Click Printer icon in top right corner of screen
  2. Click the link that says ‘open a printable PDF of your document’
  3. Click PRINT

Sharing your work:

  1. Click on “Share” or “Share with people” in the top right hand corner of your screen.
  2. Type in the name of the person/people you wish to share your document with
  3. Click SHARE
