Well Being Policy and Procedure

1. Policy Statement:

The Stokesley Deanery Youth Committee is committed to the well being of all young people attending the events.

To this end the committee as representative of the whole church family is committed to:

  • Valuing all children and young people and providing a welcoming and safe environment.
  • Ensure that the behaviour of leaders and all those attending events is appropriate.
  • Ensuring that all information provided on the consent form is noted and actioned.

2. Well Being Procedures

  • All Stokesley Deanery Committee Youth workers must read the policy and comply with the procedures.
  • Leaders will be vigilant in their work to ensure that they are aware of the content of all consent forms for an event..
  • All events will be subject to a risk assessment (see Health and Safety policy and procedure) which will take into account disabilities.
  • Leader will be sensitive to the wishes of young people and act appropriately.
  • Intervene when a dangerous or potentially dangerous situation develops where there could be injury to members or others. All incidents will be reported by a youth leader to the respective parents or guardian and recorded as described in the Health and Safety Policy.
  • Stokesley Deanery Youth Youth Leaders will meet regularly to discuss and appraise activites.
  • A first aid kit will always be available at the meeting places and at least one leader will have been trained in first aid.
  • A programme of training will be provided for Deanery Youth leaders in all aspects of work with young people.

3. Responding to a complaint about well being

DO NOT INVESTIGATE COMPLAINTS. IT IS NOT YOUR ROLE, YOU COULD DO MORE HARM THAN GOOD AND IT MAY INTERFERE WITH ANY INVESTIGATION.

If a complaint is made associated with well being of a young peron at any Stokesley Deanery Youth event the matter should be dealt with by the Rural Dean.

Policy Adoption & Review

The implementation of this policy will be reviewed at the first meeting in 2007 and annually thereafter.
