Dear Yearbook Cardinals:
As you may know, my full name is Belbet Fuentes. I am 30 years old. I attended Yukon Middle School (now known as Bud Carson Middle School) and then I moved on to attend Leuzinger High School. Yes, I am a Leuzinger alumna. Afterwards, I went on to attend California State University, Long Beach, where I majored in English Education and received my credentials to teach in April 2010. What are my strengths and weaknesses? One of my strengths that I have lately noticed about myself is my work ethic. I take great pride in everything that I do. If I start an assignment, I finish it. On the other hand, one of my weaknesses is that I tend to second guess myself, and Ihave a hard time accepting compliments. I always feel like I can do more. Plus, I do not forget things as easily.
I am the eldest of three; however, I do have an older half-sister, but she didn’t grow up with us. I have a dog named Chulo. In my family, I was the first to graduate from both high school and college, and I’m glad to say that I am not the last. My family is from Guatemala – I’m notMexican. Since I was a little girl, reading was a hobby of mine. I remember the first book that I read wasThe Babysitter’s Clubcollection. Reading has helped me develop my English skills. My parents emigrated to California from Guatemala, so they weren’t able to help me with homework because they didn’t know any English. My early school years took place in bilingual classes. It wasn’t until 6th grade that I tested out and was mainstreamed. However, in my school transcripts, I was labeled as an English learner all through high school. I’ve always felt that I am playing the “catch up” game, which I think may be the reason why I second guess myself.
I have a very close, loving relationship with shoes. I have over 100 pairs of shoes, so you can say that buying shoes is my hobby. Or my addiction. I’m a big believer in looking nice to feel nice. Nevertheless, there are some days that a simple t-shirt, jeans, and Chucks will do. In school, I am one of the three teachers that lead Link Krew. This year I was asked to be the Yearbook Advisor. I took the position because I’m very good with visuals; however, as this is my first year with this, I’m very nervous. This year you and I will be learning together; nevertheless, I expect it to be fun.
My expectations for this class are to help you do rigorous work and help you meet and exceed your expectations. I am going to help you develop as photographers and deal with busy deadlines. In addition, I will help you develop habits, skills, and behaviors to prepare you for life. I am looking forward to working with you this year.
Sincerely,
Ms. Fuentes

Dear Mr. Gosling: or To Whom It May Concern:
When using this format, you do not want to indent. Margins on all sides should be one-inch. Start the first paragraph by introducing yourself in a friendly way, and then state the purpose of your letter. Know your audience because it is very important that you keep their attention. Remember, you are not writing to yourself. Use a couple of sentences to explain the purpose, but save the detail for the body paragraphs.
Start the body paragraph by justifying the importance of the main point. In the next few paragraphs, continue the justification with background information and supporting details. Body paragraphs are where you offer solutions, advice, suggestions, or proposals. Write as many body paragraphs as you want, however, keep it short and straight to the point. You do not want to bore the reader to death or look like you’re writing an academic essay.
In the closing paragraph, you should restate the purpose of the letter and in some cases, request some type of action. Remind the reader where they can contact you, and make sure to close the letter in a friendly manner.
Sincerely, Closing,
