SUMMER NEWSLETTER 2016
Dear Members,
The year seems to be flying by with camp fast approaching.
We have had a busy time since the last newsletter.
The beach ride in April was not attended by as many members as some years but those that came had a good time.
Rallies and team training have continued on Thursdays and Sundays. They have been well attended and it is really good to see everyone progressing.
We held our Hunter Trials and Tetrathlon in May with a few members from Glamorgan joining us. This was the first time anyone had jumped the smart new cross country jumps with the arrow head proving an influential fence. A big thank you to everyone who turned up to clear the fences and fix the new fences. There have been a lot more jumps added around the farm which hopefully we will be able to use through the summer. The results from the tet are as follows tiddler Lola, tadpole Amber, Mini Rhys, Junior Nicole and Senior Kane. THE best shoots were Amber, Rhys, Amy, Nicole and Callum. Best swims Amber, Rhys, Nicole and Kane. Best runs were Amber, Megan, Keegan and Connor.
The hunter trial results are as follows Minimus Amy, Pairs Rosie and Ed Vaughan (Llangeinor), intermediate Keegan, open Kane and Pairs Kaitlyn and Keegan.
The branch show took place at the end of June. It was the day after the Area Dressage and clashed with an event at Alps so we were down on numbers. Those that did attend had a good day. The Best turned out member was Ella Gunning. The best under 12 was Amber, under 15 Nicole, Senior Kane and Handy pony Nicole.
The branch took a grassroots team, a novice team and 2 intermediate individuals to the Area Dressage at Chepstow. The Grassroots team of Ella Witt, Elin Lewis and Kaitlyn Jacobs did really well for their first area competition. Ella won in her area. The novice team was Lydia Milward, Eliza Durnall and Jaz Wallace, they rode some good tests. Eliza came 2nd in her arena and qualified for the championships – well done. Sarah Cory Rees and Belinda Wallace took part in the intermediate class.
Grass roots dressage team
Pembrey was the venue for the Area Tetrathlon. Lydia qualified for the intermediate championships. Rhys Smart won the Mini Boys Megan Tarney was 2nd Amber Pearn 5th and Amy 7th. Again amazing results.
The area show jumping was at Smugglers Run hosted by Monmouth branch. Ryan McPeake, Nicole Lewis, Jonti Boyland and Lydia Milward took part in the novice competition. The grass roots team of Kaitlyn Jacobs, Amy Denton and Rhys Smart came 3rd and the other team of Keegan Jacobs, Elin Lewis and Kane Scanlon came 6th. Both teams qualified for the Regional grassroots championships well done everyone.
