CLASSROOM PROCEDURES

ENTER TO WORK. When student enters the classroom, begin preparing for class. Please read the board for the first assignment. Come in, take a seat, and organize yourself to begin work.

BE ON TIME. TARDY POLICY. WHS tardy policy IS followed and enforced in all Design classes. All tardies will be recorded. On the fifth tardy, student will receive one day ISS. Refer to
Page 50 in the Elmore County Handbook for further disciplinary action.

CELL PHONE POLICY. Elmore County and WHS cell phone policy will be enforced. Please refer to Page 49 in the Elmore County Handbook for official policy. Any student who does not put up cell phone when asked by the teacher will be written up automatically and will receive a minimum of 1 day ISS.

CLASS FEES. There are NO class fees this year. Class books will be provided free of charge.
However, there will be a $15 charge to replace lost or damaged books.

SkillsUSA Club fee is $30 and includes local, state, and national membership as well as a WHS SkillsUSA t-shirt. You must pay SkillsUSA dues by the deadline in order to receive the t-shirt. Deadline is September 30.

CLASS SUPPLIES. Students are expected to have a SD card (preferably 16gigabytes) that they will function as their class folder (I am required to keep class folders for five years for my program). A folder or notebook may be used instead until one is purchased. A writing instrument IS REQUIRED. I do NOT provide pens/pencils in class. Many projects will also require a USB drive to save data and transport it home. Please have one available when needed.

PASSES ARE A PRIVILEGE. Students will receive THREE passes per nine weeks. No student will be allowed to leave classroom during instruction. If you have any medical problems that need to be discussed, please bring a doctor’s excuse. Students are to NEVER leave class without prior permission!!! You WILL be required to sign out, list where you are going, and sign in when you return.

ATTENDANCE IS VERY IMPORTANT!!! If you are absent, YOU will need to check with ME about your assignments missed. Homework will only be accepted on the day that it is due. MAKE UP WORK IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT. DO NOT WAIT ON THE INSTRUCTOR TO GIVE YOU MAKE-UP WORK. YOU MUST COME TO INSTRUCTOR BEFORE OR AFTER CLASS. A student will receive a zero if their absence is Unexcused. Student will not be able to make up any test, class work and etc. without an Excused Absence. A student has only three days to turn in make up work.

Food and Drink in the classroom is also a privilege. DO NOT leave trash, spills, etc. in the classroom. I WILL NOT clean up after you. If you leave food/drink, you will lose ALL food/drink privileges in the classroom.

YOU MUST BRING SUPPLIES AND BE PREPARED DAILY.

PLEASE RESPECT OUR EQUIPMENT. DO NOT WRITE ON EQUIPMENT FURNITURE, OR TEXTBOOKS. Any abuse of equipment will result in student NOT being allowed to use equipment/resources in class. This will result in student being required to do any work using technology outside of class.

KEEP YOUR AREA CLEAN. You are responsible for your area. Do not leave paper around your desk, on your desk, or on the floor. Books must be closed and put up in proper place. If you enter the classroom and notice any damage to equipment or area not cleaned, please notify instructor immediately.

STUDENTS WILL REMAIN IN THEIR SEATS UNTIL DISMISSED FROM CLASS. The instructor will dismiss you. Make sure that you check area and put chairs in proper places upon departure. You will NOT linger around the door waiting for the bell to ring.

THE FOLLOWING IS CONSIDERED DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR:

  • Disrespect toward Teacher and Peers
  • Excessive Talking
  • Violation of Dress Code
  • Profanity
  • Negative Attitude toward School or Class
  • Sleeping/Head on Desk
  • Tardies to Class
  • Abuse of School Property/Equipment/Internet
