DickleburghPre-School
Admissions Policy
Statement of Intent
It is our intention to make our Pre-School accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community.
Aim
We aim to ensure that all sections of our community have access to the Pre-School through open, fair and clearly communicated procedures.
Methods
In order to achieve this aim, we operate the following admissions policy:
- We ensure that information about our Pre-School is accessible – in written and spoken form – and, if appropriate and possible, in different languages.
- Wherever possible, we keep a place vacant at the Pre-School, if this is financially viable, to accommodate an emergency admission.
- We describe our Pre-School and its practices in terms which make it clear that it welcomes both fathers and mothers, other relations and carers, including childminders.
- We describe our Pre-School and its practices in terms of how it treats individuals, due regard of their gender, special educational needs, disabilities, background, religion, ethnicity or competence in spoken English.
- We describe our Pre-School and its practices in terms of how it enables children with disabilities to take part in the life of the Pre-School.
- We make our equality policy widely known.
- We are flexible about attendance patterns to accommodate the needs of individual children and families.
Pre-School Admissions
- Children can join our Pre-School from 2 years .
- We review our session allocation on a term–by–term basis.
- At certain times it may be possible to offer a child more than five sessions if requested. These additional sessions will be reviewed termly and re-offered for the following term only if those sessions remain available.
- We aim to accommodate as many children as possible in their preferred sessions, however, due to the limited number of spaces in each session, an alternative session may be offered.
- Our criteria for admission gives priority to the following:
- Catchment: priority will be given to children in the Primary School’s catchment area of Dickleburgh, Rushall, Thelveton and Shimpling.
- Having a sibling at Dickleburgh Primary School or already attending Pre-School.
- Children with Special Educational Needs or Disability (SEND) or Looked-After Children (LAC).
- Children living in a local village with no school amenities.
Other children not meeting any of the above criteria will be offered sessions if there are any available.
This policy was adopted at a meeting of DickleburghPre-School.
