Dear Parents,
We are very excited to announce that the Dickerson Middle School Symphonic Band has been invited to perform at the very prestigious Music for All Southeastern Regional Concert Festival in Atlanta GA.
Dickerson is one of only eight Middle School bands in the region to be invited to attend the 2018 Festival! This is the 4th annual Southeastern Regional, and this will be the second time Dickerson has performed for this prestigious event.
Performances on these truly National stages will require commitment and dedication from the students, but the results will be worth it! This performance will be an amazing experience for our students, and will include many hours of preparation and rehearsal, some outside of the regular class time.
This invitation has been extended to our entire 8th Grade band. The spots for this trip will be open to any 8th grader that demonstrates commitment and exhibits a high level of achievement on the required music regardless of which band they are placed in. Students wishing to participate must attend all sectionals, concerts, and the weekend camp in January.
We have already begun preparations for this events: we are in the process of setting up a Smart Music Class where students will be able to practice music on their own and prepare for this event. We will have three before school sectionals for each student spread out over November and January. We will also have a symphonic camp Friday night January 19th and Saturday January 20th. We should be done around 5pm on Saturday.
Listed below are the scheduled required dates for the Southeastern Regional. If your child is interested in being a part of these special events, please go ahead and put them on your calendar! We will set our final participant list by mid-October. We know that your students are involved in many exciting activities, and we know that some activities and opportunities will become available to your student after you have signed this commitment form. We ask that if you sign this form that you take the commitment seriously and ensure that your student also takes it seriously.

At present, the estimated cost for the trip is $80 for students and $35 for Chaperones covering: motor coach, lunch, tickets to all events, and a trip shirt. This trip cost may change depending on the number of students attending. Please be aware that this cost is calculated with 100 students participating. The price will increase if fewer then 100 students attend the trip, and the price may go down depending on a few factors. Exact cost of the trip will be available and due in January.

Returning this paper indicates that you have read and understand all the information about the Music For All Southeastern Regional trip and that you are interested in having your child participate in this event. You also understand that this is an INTEREST form only, and that participation in the group is contingent upon your child meeting the following criteria:
1) Remains in good academic and behavioral standing in all classes at Dickerson.
2) Participates in and attends the extra rehearsals and concerts scheduled for the Symphonic Band.
3) Can perform his or her music for the concert at an acceptable level.
Invitations will be extended no later than January 5th. At that point all students participating on the trip will owe $80.00 due by January 12th

Band performances at the Southeastern Regional Concert Festival. We are aware of all required concerts and rehearsals dates, and our student will attend all events.
