DFB Cup Draw at SSV Reutlingen

On Wednesday 3 June, the draw for the first round of the German DFB Pokal took place in Reutlingen at the Ground of our sponsoring partner SSV Reutlingen “Stadion an der Kreuzeiche”. More than 500 spectators were present, amongst them representatives from all amateur clubs taking part in the 1st round of the 2015/16 version of Germany’s sole cup competition, when German Tennis player Andrea Petkovic and former German International Karlheinz Förster draw the 1st round ties. The draw was broadcasted live in German television from Reutlingen right after Germany’ loss against the USA in an international friendly in Cologne. Reutlingen was chosen as location for the draw, because as a former member of Germany’s first division their stadium provided the required infrastructure for the organisation of the draw including facilities for logistics, VIP hosting, and broadcasting.

As a sponsoring partner of the SSV Reutlingen, eyevis of course supported the event through the supply of two video walls and additional displays in the stadium to show the international match and the following Cup draw. The two 3by3 video walls with eyevis 55-inch seamless LCDs were installed directly in front of the stand to provide a perfect large-scale view of the match and the drawings to the audience. More eyevis large format LCD screens were installed in the VIP area above the stand. Even the experienced technicians from the broadcasting company were impressed of the brilliant image quality of the displays.

In the first round, Reutlingen will take on a local rival against Karlsruhe – who will only have to travel an hour south and just missed out on promotion to the Bundesliga end of last season.

It has been a while since Reutlingen was present in the Cup, but the club won the 2014-15 edition of the Württemberg Cup, and thereby qualified for the first round of the 2015-16 DFB-Pokal. Organising the draw in our stadium was a first step back on the national soccer stage”,
