EVALUATIONS:

·  It was felt that overall evaluations went very well. Thank you to Don Herczeg, Devin Scherger and Curtis Bignell for their work on the ice, Victor Wearden and Tracy Benfeld for their time inputting data, and to Deb Bignell, Larry Sherwood and Vicky Sue Baron for keeping things running smoothly.

·  It was suggested that an evaluation booklet be compiled that can be used for next season.

2007/2008 ICE SCHEDULE:

·  The proposed ice schedule for 2007/08 causes the IP level to be down 1 hour of ice time per week from last season.

·  MOTION by Sheldon Hollman to accept the proposed ice schedule for the 2007/2008 hockey season with a guarantee to IP that they will incur no loss of ice time due to tournaments and that any ice times that become available will be offered to the IP level first. Seconded by Larry Sherwood. All in favour.

·  Process for giving back ice is as follows:

1)  The ice slot is offered to the other teams at the same level

2)  If those teams are not interested, the coordinator for that level is notified, who will in turn notify Deb Bignell that the ice is available

3)  Deb will offer the ice to IP first

4)  If IP isn’t interested Deb will then offer it to all other teams

It is very important that coaches notify their coordinators as soon as possible about free ice. The Town of Devon requires 48 hours notice for DMHA to cancel an ice time without being charged.

COACHES’ MEETING:

·  Date set for meeting: October 25 at 6:00 PM at the Devon Community Centre. Notices will be placed in all coach folders.

·  The following coaching positions were approved by the executive:

- Novice House 2 Ryan Bloomer

- Bantam House 2 Lawrence Allen

A meeting needs to be called with the parents of the Midget House team to find a

Head coach. It was decided to do this on Wednesday, October 10 at 7:30 PM.

BYLAWS:

·  Trish Rizko and Colleen Chorzempa will be updating the bylaws over the next month or so. The updated bylaws will be brought to the next AGM for approval.

Max Straub Atom

Ryan Armstrong Atom

James Stewart Bantam

Justin Beaudry IP

Josh Prinsen Atom - PeeWee $50 extra

·  A health advisory has been issued regarding the WJD Pro goaltender helmets. Although they have the sticker on them, they are NOT certified.

·  Hockey Alberta is having its Centennial Celebration. If there is anyone in the Devon area that you feel should be nominated for their contributions to local hockey please contact Sheldon Hollman.

·  There is a rule change regarding goalie pads. The maximum allowable width is 11”. Next year the maximum allowable height will be changed to 38”.

·  This year is DMHA’s 40 year anniversary. Looking for any thoughts on how to acknowledge it (get Ron Nicolas to help, put it on the track suits and the website, etc). The new team banners also need to be hung in the arena.

·  Hockey Alberta allows 5 coach’s cards per team.

·  Arena attendants have asked if the Midgets could be moved to the early time slot on October 31. Also need to check if Atom Rep and PeeWee rep will be using their ice slots that night.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Larry Sherwood (Vice President):

·  Evaluations – will make some changes to the process for next year (have coaches in place earlier, different, streamlined forms for the evaluators, change drills). Feedback forms will be sent out to parents soon. Also asked for feedback from the evaluators.

Garry LaBine (Equipment Manager):

·  Lots of old jerseys still for sale. Dennis Debusschere bought two sets (will be paying for them shortly)

·  Marwayne is interested in the old Devon socks.

·  Attended the Zone Meeting. Teams can check on-line for coach’s certification. All coaches are supposed to watch the video that was handed out. Changes are coming to provincials regarding team classification. When a matched penalty is handed out the referee is to keep the white copy. ·  Evaluators and on ice help charged $200.00 for food from the concession.

Lori Uhryn (Referee in Chief):

·  Checked into the situation for a coach under 18 years of age. If the coach is carded he doesn’t need a helmet while on the bench, but it is recommended when he is on the ice.

·  Will be checking into the 5 coach’s cards issue.

·  Sheena Anderson has not received a player release yet.

Ryan Balanecki (IP Coordinator): nothing to report

Chrystal Miller (Atom Coordinator):

·  Teams are set.

Krista Zaft (PeeWee Coordinator):

·  What is the situation with Jacob Guay? He can’t play in any games until a decision is made by Hockey Alberta.

·  Brought in different styles of tracks suits to look at. It was decided to try to get every team in DMHA to wear the same style of track suit. Krista was willing to talk with every coach. MOTION by Victor Wearden to pick the Storm Tech track suit with the DMHA logo as the official track suit. Seconded by Vicky Sue Baron. All in favour. It was also decided that only the Midget teams are to get the leather jackets as has been tradition.

Devin Scherger (Coaches Coordinator):

·  Will be pulling sign up sheets for coaching clinics from bulletin boards on October 15. Need to find a venue for the clinics. Devon Community Centre was suggested. A price also needs to be set for people from outside of DMHA. Victor Wearden suggested charging the same as Edmonton Minor Hockey.

·  There were no evaluator’s comments to hand out to players this year.

Trish Rizko (Registrar):

·  Attended Registrars’ Meeting:

·  Hockey Alberta gave the order for dealing with issues.
